Gathering information for a case turns potentially lethal when Wang Zhi is poisoned.

Id Pro Quo author reveals! I wrote some things! First of all, my assignment, which I really enjoyed. (I was absolutely thrilled when I got the assignment that I did, and I wanted to write SO MANY of my recip's awesome prompts, but ended up settling on this one.)

Equal and Opposite Forces (Captain Marvel, Carol/Yon-Rogg, 3200 wds, mature-rated)
Yon-Rogg was waiting for her where he said he'd be, inside the bombed-out shell of an ancient building on the outskirts of town.

My treats, meanwhile, got WILDLY out of control. Like kudzu.

Corpse Soldier of Eskatar (Torchwood, team gen, 27K)
The team encounters a device intended to turn the dead into unstoppable fighting machines. It has somewhat more unpredictable effects on Owen.

Bodyguard (Iron Fist, mostly Ward & Colleen gen, 29K)
Canon-divergent AU: the Hand assigns Colleen as Ward's bodyguard pre-season-one.

Written for Three Sentence Ficathon, my fills so far! These are nice and bite-sized, so pretty easy to fit in around my other writing when I feel like writing a little bit of fic (though sometimes they go longer).

Yuletide author reveals! My writers were THE SNEAKIEST this year! I did not guess ANYONE (well, except opalmatrix, who clearly knew I would, and I still love it by the way). Anyway, you guys are the sneakiest and best. I loved, loved, loved my gifts. I cannot believe alchemise wrote me TWO things (I didn't even guess one!) and rachelmanija completely fooled me by writing Iron Fist when she was not even on my suspect list.

Meanwhile, I was THE MOST obvious this year.

First, my assignment:

Friday Night Social (Defenders, Jessica + team, 1800 wds)
Jessica wants it known that no part of this was her idea.

I got a lovely request for Jessica + Luke + Danny (and a bit of Matt slipped in as well!). I offered everyone in the Defenders set as usual, but this might be the first year that I've wound up with a request for that particular combo. Early friendships/teamships as they try to figure out how to work together and deal with this whole "friends" thing.

Shore Leave (Alliance-Union, Meg & Sal, 1200 wds)
The last time Meg was on Mariner Station, it had been a different place.

I started writing this as a fill for a lingering pinch hit (I'll often write part of a pinch hit before claiming it, just to make sure the words are coming), but someone else nabbed it first, so I went ahead and finished it as a treat.

Holiday Style (Iron Fist, Ward & Colleen, 4300 wds)
"Okay, so for the record," Ward said, as shoppers jostled them, "you're having me help you pick out a gift for your boyfriend. Me."
If looks could kill, Colleen's glare should have pinned him, quivering, to the sidewalk.

Ward and Colleen go Christmas shopping. It goes about as well as their plans ever do.

Muscle Memory (Iron Fist, Danny & Ward, 2500 wds)
Danny learns to use Orson Randall's guns. Ward gets to play teacher for once.

There was a request for road trip fic, so how could I not write that?

You can't ever go back where you started from. But maybe you don't have to; maybe nostalgia isn't all it's cracked up to be. Set between seasons.

Pretty solidly on brand for me. I've written comparatively little about the rebuilding period between seasons, so I decided to focus on that this time.

Mary Celeste (Torchwood, 9000 wds, Owen-centric team genfic)
The team finds a crashed alien spaceship, and Owen gets a second chance. Of sorts.

rachelmanija had the best and most inspiring suggestions for various ways that Owen could get a chance to eat and drink without technically being "fixed." Basically I solicited ideas via email and then sneakily wrote them. Also, I do enjoy writing (and reading) about modern-day Earth dorks getting to play with alien tech.

The Cartography of Feeling (Torchwood, 20K, Owen & Ianto)
"We're sodding gladiators," Owen said. "Fuck this entire day and Jack Harkness too."
(Or: Owen and Ianto are abducted by aliens and forced to arena-fight. But the worst part might be the control device that connects them in an emotion and pain-sharing bond.)

I cannot BELIEVE I've never written a fic with either pain/emotion sharing OR characters being forced to arena-fight, but, well ... now I have. And had a fantastic time doing it.

Chocolate Bittersweet (Torchwood, 1600 wds, Gwen/Suzie)
In a little tourist town on the Norway coast, Suzie steals a box of chocolates.

I had never considered this pairing, since these characters never really got a chance to interact while they were both properly alive, and the main interaction they did have was Suzie trying to steal Gwen's life force. On the other hand, ships have been built on less, and they do lend themselves to a really interesting messed-up codependence dynamic. It looked like the recip really likes fucked-up femslash (I triple-checked their requests to make sure I wasn't going too dark for them!) and really enjoyed exploring this little corner of a canon divergence AU.

From the last week or so.

Three Times Owen, Tosh, and Ianto Slept Together, and One Time They Were Caught At It (Tosh/Owen/Ianto, mature-rated, 7300 words)
From post-season-one to late season two. Sex optional.

Sex is still technically present, but I guess this was mostly just an excuse to write a whole lot of indulgent snuggling. Well, it started as an attempt to write a tag scene for the season two episode in which Owen suggests an orgy, because Owen, and ... snowballed. The title is a questionable thing that exists, but I couldn't think of a better one.

This is such a rare pairing that out of 16K+ Torchwood fics on AO3, this is only the second one that's been posted! Can I pick them or what.

And I picked up a pinch hit for heatficsummer, which means I have not only written A/B/O, but explicit, (semi)incest A/B/O. .... go me....?

The Fire Inside (Ward/Danny, explicit, 8900 words)
Between the drugs and Dad and everything else, Ward genuinely doesn't recognize what's happening at first. It's been so long since he's had a heat that he doesn't even know the signs anymore.

So yeah, caveat emptor on that one. The request was basically "whump Ward a lot" and I, uh. Obliged. I had ridiculous amounts of fun writing it.

So I ended up writing a lot for this (about 50K). Mostly pretty obvious, I feel. But not entirely.

Stranger Things

as the war machine keeps turning (Billy & Max + a little of the others, gen, 10K words)
It's one day after the end of the world, and Max is on the world's worst road trip.

I picked this up as a pinch hit because season 3 left me craving a Max & Billy reconciliation, and the recip's apocalypse prompts gave me one of the few scenarios in which I could really imagine it happening. This is kind of Stephen King-ish and was hella fun to write.

The Punisher

Nature Red in Tooth and Claw (David & Frank & Sarah, gen + David/Sarah, 22K words)
Six months after David had his last sight of Frank being dragged off by Billy Russo's goons, he finds Frank again in an underground fight club.

My actual assignment. My notes say "3K of werewolf Frank." Hahahahaaaaaa. *sob* This goes AU in the next-to-last episode of season one.

Iron Fist

But Never Broken (Danny & Ward + Colleen, gen, 9K words)
Ward managed to talk Danny into coming to the Rand annual anniversary gala, but even from beyond the grave, Harold is still finding ways to screw their lives up. Set between seasons.

A treat that got slightly out of control for the prompt "sick/hurt at formal social event." rachelmanija gave me the brilliant idea of Harold managing to poison Ward from beyond the grave.

All You Have (Danny/Ward, 3700 words)
In which Ward is sick, and Danny and Ward take obliviousness to new heights while stuck in the middle of nowhere.

I think this might be my first time writing Danny/Ward outright.

Alliance-Union

Flying High (Hellburner crew, canon pairings, 4200 words)
Updating the team's flight tapes means drugs. No one is happy about this.

Another pinch hit, which I decided to jump on after getting some of my other assignments squared away, because I always love writing the Hellburner crew and this gave me an opportunity to write Ben doing what chomiji so accurately describes as his Sanity Anchor thing.
