So I ended up writing a lot for this (about 50K). Mostly pretty obvious, I feel. But not entirely.

Stranger Things

as the war machine keeps turning (Billy & Max + a little of the others, gen, 10K words)
It's one day after the end of the world, and Max is on the world's worst road trip.

I picked this up as a pinch hit because season 3 left me craving a Max & Billy reconciliation, and the recip's apocalypse prompts gave me one of the few scenarios in which I could really imagine it happening. This is kind of Stephen King-ish and was hella fun to write.

The Punisher

Nature Red in Tooth and Claw (David & Frank & Sarah, gen + David/Sarah, 22K words)
Six months after David had his last sight of Frank being dragged off by Billy Russo's goons, he finds Frank again in an underground fight club.

My actual assignment. My notes say "3K of werewolf Frank." Hahahahaaaaaa. *sob* This goes AU in the next-to-last episode of season one.

Iron Fist

But Never Broken (Danny & Ward + Colleen, gen, 9K words)
Ward managed to talk Danny into coming to the Rand annual anniversary gala, but even from beyond the grave, Harold is still finding ways to screw their lives up. Set between seasons.

A treat that got slightly out of control for the prompt "sick/hurt at formal social event." rachelmanija gave me the brilliant idea of Harold managing to poison Ward from beyond the grave.

All You Have (Danny/Ward, 3700 words)
In which Ward is sick, and Danny and Ward take obliviousness to new heights while stuck in the middle of nowhere.

I think this might be my first time writing Danny/Ward outright.

Alliance-Union

Flying High (Hellburner crew, canon pairings, 4200 words)
Updating the team's flight tapes means drugs. No one is happy about this.

Another pinch hit, which I decided to jump on after getting some of my other assignments squared away, because I always love writing the Hellburner crew and this gave me an opportunity to write Ben doing what chomiji so accurately describes as his Sanity Anchor thing.

Agent Carter

Collapse (Peggy & Jack & Daniel, gen, 2100 words)
Post-shooting, Jack overworks himself.

Technically rachelmanija asked for Secret Injury, but I got several requests for that one, so I'm farming them out to other compatible spaces. I'm also considering this a sort of joint gift for Rachel and maplemood, since hers was so short. <3

Superstition, Peggy might have said, but liminal, is the word that comes to mind now. A word she learned not in the expensive boarding school her parents sent her to, but from the novels she read avidly under the covers. It means between. Between the darkness and the dawn. Between light and dark, life and death.

Punisher - Frank + any for rachelmanija

"How long has he been like this?" Sarah asked quietly, sitting beside David on the edge of Frank's bed.

"Awhile." David gave her a wan smile. "Half the night, probably. I didn't want to wake you or the kids."

In the bed, Frank turned his head to the side, mumbled something incomprehensible. Sarah laid the back of her hand on his forehead, testing the heat: a move long practiced on the kids. And if he had been one of her kids, she would have been rushing him to the emergency room.

Basically True Grit with Frank and Leo in a post-apocalyptic wilderness. Leo hires Frank to help her find her missing parents; they each learn a little from each other.

Runaways (Iron Fist, 5300 wds, mostly Danny & Ward with some Joy)
For a request for an ageswap AU in which Danny is the oldest of the Rand-Meachum kids. It's actually kind of amazing how much this changes, once I started thinking through how the characters' personalities interact with birth order and parental expectation; Danny is more responsible, Ward is brattier, and all in all it's just a really fascinating dynamic to play with.

Only as Old as You Feel (Stranger Things, 1500 wds, mostly Robin & Nancy + the ensemble)
For the requested tag (nominated by me) "Weird Adventures While Living Together In A Retirement Home AU". Instead of Hawkins the town, it's Hawkins Care Home, in which residents mysteriously go missing and geriatric sleuth Nancy is dragging her reluctant roommate Robin along to find out why.

A Zailor in the Making (Guardians of the Galaxy/Fallen London, 2100 words, Peter + team)
For a request for a Fallen London/GotG fusion. In which Peter has landed himself in disgraced exile in the Tomb-Colonies, because of course he has, but don't worry, Zee-Captain Gamora is here to, er, not rescue him. Probably.

By March or so, the patrols were getting pretty well organized. There was an actual, honest-to-God signup sheet, stuck to Mrs. Byers' fridge with a smiley rainbow magnet and decorated with stickers by the kids. (Or: Monsters are hunted, and Steve starts figuring some things out.)

Misty doesn't have THE Iron Fist, but she has AN iron fist. (LOL, I feel as if I should mention that despite the summary, no actual fisting occurs. It's about arm wrestling.)

Yuletide reveals! I can talk about what I wrote!

My actual assignment:

Lifeline (Punisher, 10K, Frank & David plus others)
A flashbang leaves Frank temporarily blind and deaf while attempting to rescue hostages, including David.

My expression when I opened my assignment email and saw that I'd gotten rachelmanija can basically be expressed as ":DDDDDDDDDD", especially since this was like 2 days after we'd just had a discussion about all the things she likes in Punisher fic. I used Die Hard as a starting point, because I mean ... Frank, and then made him blind and deaf, which was a fascinating challenge to write. I've always kinda wanted to do a fic in which the characters can communicate only through Morse code.


The one no one would ever in a million years guess was me:

The Hatchling Job (From Eroica With Love/Pern fusion, 1500 wds, Dorian/Klaus)
K'Laus stares at the empty sand and tells himself he's wrong. Dorian couldn't. He wouldn't. There was no way that even Dorian would be audacious enough, stupid enough, to steal a queen egg directly off the hatching grounds.

This was for a person who went out as an emergency last-minute pinch hit right before the archive opened. I didn't grab them as a pinch hit, but their letter said this was their first Yuletide and they sounded super excited about it, so I felt they should have a treat, and skimming their letter, my eyes caught on "Pern fusion." I've never tried to write Eroica or Pern, but I've read both, so I figured, why not?


The ones I am sure EVERYONE knew was me, aka a slew of Iron Fist fics:

I, um, ended up double-treating the Iron Fist people, because I just wanted to keep writing it and there weren't that many people requesting it, okay. Also, everyone wanted Ward! I mean. Twist my arm.

Okay, so, Danny wasn't officially in the tagset this year, which means if anyone wanted the whole team they had to request it specially. And some people DID specially request it, and that made me so delighted that I went through all the Defenders letters and decided that anyone who asked for Danny was getting a treat. (Plus, one person who asked for Defenders was someone I really wanted to treat anyway. Win!) Most of them also wanted Elektra, not a character I normally write as well as being inconveniently dead, so I worked my ass off finding ways to get Elektra into people's fic (unless they'd said they were okay with a subset of characters, but even then, I really wanted to if I could make it work). Now I want to write more of her. Win??
