Title: Four Seasons on a Texas Ranch
Word Count: 4300
Rating: PG
Pairings: a little Ronon/Melena in background, otherwise gen
Notes: This is my [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan story for [livejournal.com profile] raphe1, who requested something from the Long Road Home AU 'verse. This takes place a year or two after the Rodney-in-DC snippet that I wrote awhile back.

Four Seasons on a Texas Ranch )

(ETA: I realized right after posting this that the timing is kind of ... bad, since here I am writing about hot drought-stricken summers, while in the real world, with special irony considering the reason why this fic was written, Texas is underwater. I'm really sorry, Texas! Please don't wash away!)

Eeeeee~! The wonderful [livejournal.com profile] naye made a soundtrack for Long Road Home, my SGA Texas AU. I love the song choices, so evocative of the lonely dusty roads that I imagined while I was writing the story, and the progression of the songs as they follow the development of the characters' friendship is just gorgeous. There's also a wonderful cover to go with it, and I asked [livejournal.com profile] naye if I could use it as a cover for the story itself, too!

You can view and download the soundtrack here, and the cover can be seen on that page, or on the main Texas AU page, or under the cut! )

Squee! Thank you so much!

I'm procrastinating this afternoon, so I wrote a snippet from the Long Road Home universe. Well, it was supposed to be a snippet. Instead it ended up being about 2200 words long. It's kind of a follow-up to the other one that I wrote a little while back.

It's raining in D.C. )

EDIT: And there is now an illustration to go with this.

That meme thing -- [livejournal.com profile] atlantis_fan requested a post-Long Road Home vignette. I mulled over an idea while lying in bed this morning, and when I got up, this is what I wrote. It's a little bit cute and a little bit sad.

So ... I have all these unfinished stories that I'm supposed to be working on, but instead, I got bit by this plot bug -- they're not plot bunnies for me, more like plot hornets or something -- and I wrote this long, friendshippy AU. Hey, I got to put them through a whole different kind of emotional hell than usual, and that's gotta be worth something.

It's complete, but broken into parts because I think it's too long for a single LJ post.

Title: Long Road Home
Rating: T (mostly for language)
Summary: AU, gen, friendship, h/c. You can run to the ends of the Earth, but you can't escape from yourself. The story of an illegal immigrant, an emotionally and physically damaged veteran trying to shut out the world, and a border patrol agent who hates his job. Maybe they were destined to be friends in any universe.
