sholio: sun on winter trees (Lucky - WTF?)

Because everyone loves puppies...

... and I've had this mental image in my head all day.

I love the idea that Rodney carries the puppy around like this nonstop for days because (a) he doesn't have any idea how to hold a puppy and (b) every time he puts it down, it starts to cry.

Although I have been known to carry small dogs this way, the pose is mainly borrowed from my cat, who likes to lay on things in exactly this fashion -- railings, the backs of chairs, etc. -- with his legs dangling down. It makes a good vantage from which to attack Lucky, the dog in the icon. Lucky would normally have the upper hand (paw?) because the cat is about 6 pounds and Lucky's more like 45, but the high ground helps.

Awww!! That's lovely. I love the litle detail of the pads on her front right paw. And that is clearly Rodney's hand.

How is this image done? Is it hand drawn and coloured?

You're making me all whimpery 'though, by even mentioning crying puppies.

Thank you! I'm especially glad that the hand looks like a Rodney hand. I skimmed a bunch of screencaps trying to get the way that his shoulder/arm area looks. (Aww, poor me. It was such a burden.)

I think it's funny that people seem to have twigged to the puppy being a girl, even though I don't think I ever made it clear in the story itself -- because I *do* think of it as a girl puppy, even if it's never specified.

It was drawn by hand and then colored on the computer (Wacom tablet/photoshop).

Well, I got the gender thing from your comment about Rodney calling the puppy "Sam", who is female. (No! Really?!)

Ah, the machinations of the analytical mind...

But Sam the whale was a boy, and it didn't stop him...

Ahh, but I didn't think of that! LOL!

Oh, this is adorable. And Rodney's shirt is blue, heh.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm thinking he keeps wearing blue and he has no idea why...

I want to HUG Rodney for carrying the puppy around like that, it's like that kid with a blanket on 'Charlie Brown'.

*hee* Thank you!

I must admit it doesn't take a whole lot to make me want to hug Rodney ... *grin*

awwwwwwwwwwww. Great pic ;) I'm impressed! Puppies like to be carried, and its easier that way, especially for the long-legged types. Harder for 'toy' or smaller breeds, since they don't have the balance to stay like that.

Heeeee! Thanks! I never really thought about the breed distinction in schlepping puppies ... I used to carry my Lucky (retriever) that way when he was a baby, but not Frisky, who was a toy breed and needed a hand under her butt. Hmm...

Awwww, that's just too cute! I just read the fic and as usual, I really liked it. It also makes me very happy for some reason that the dog in your story is a greyhound. I don't have one, but my brother does and she's just the sweetest, friendliest dog I've ever seen.

Is this the third story in this AU? I read the original story and I read another vignette that you posted a while back, but I'm confused. If there's any more that I've missed, I definitely want to go back and catch up.

*catching up late on reviews*

The ones you've read are all that there are -- the original story plus the subsequent vignette. Assuming I don't get sucked into writing more ... *eyes word processing program*

I have never had a greyhound, but I've heard that they're wonderful dogs.
