Day 12: Don't Move

"So is this just my life now, or what," Amy mutters as she struggles with the needle, trying to get the long, jagged cut on Frank's back stitched up so it won't open up and start bleeding all over the place again. TV makes this look so easy, just like darning a sock. Unfortunately she's terrible at darning socks (okay, she's never even tried; she kind of vaguely knows that it's a thing, but she's terrible at all other forms of domestic handicrafts so it stands to reason she'd be terrible at it). And TV definitely didn't prepare her for the tug of a needle in flesh, or the blood making her hands slippery.

"Hey, look on the bright side," Frank says, and looks at her over his shoulder, grinning tightly. "At least it's not my ass this time."

"Shut up and don't move, or you're going to look like Frankenstein by the time I'm done."

"Frankenstein was the scientist," Frank says.

"Quiet."

I love this a lot--first for the implication that Amy patching up Frank has become a regular thing between them, and second for their relationship being set up so perfectly. They're both kind of snarky with each other and really good at deflecting their actual feelings with back-and-forth (I love that Frank couldn't resist correcting her on Frankenstein--it's such a Frank thing to do!), but at the end of the day they obviously do care about each other and you can see that whether they say so or not. This was so great; I absolutely didn't mind that it was short, since it captures that one little moment so well. :):)

<33333 Thank you so much! Yeah, the reason why some of these are short is just because they felt right at that length, and this is definitely one of those.

re: the Frankenstein thing - I also really love that Frank is actually smarter and more well-read than people assume he is. (And yes, unable to resist correcting. XD)
