Fanfic advent day 4

Request from Tumblr: I'd really love any alternate-POV snippets for Black Water Rising?

Link to original story: Black Water Rising. This is the Agent Carter one in which they're stuck in an underground Hydra deathtrap that's filling up with water, also the first long fic I wrote in the fandom, after season one.

Since the entire fic is in Peggy's POV, we never got to see the Jack or Daniel scenes when they're not with her. So this is their side of the scene after Peggy leaves them alone, before Jack swims to the hangar, when he tells Daniel the Okinawa story.

This one's a bit interesting because (having written him a lot more by now) I actually no longer think the initial line of dialogue that this missing scene opens with is in character for Jack, but I'm keeping it because it's from the original story and I wanted to tie them together; the first couple of lines here are the last lines Peggy hears as she walks away.

Holiday wishlist stocking thing

frith_in_thorns had the BEST idea.

So it's starting to look like fandom_stocking is probably not running this year, and in-a-peartree signups are closed. But what if we did an informal kind of thing in our own journals - sort of like a combination of the older-style LJ holiday wishlist posts and f_s?

1. Post a wishlist in your own journal.

2. Turn comment notifications off.

3. DON'T PEEK UNTIL THE 25th. (Obviously this is on the honor system.)

Somebody help me kick the tires of this idea and figure out if it would work? It wouldn't have the infrastructure of f_s, of course, and most critically, no one is guaranteed anything. But you could ask for any sort of thing - not just fandom stuff, but also holiday cards or things from an Amazon wishlist or the like.

There is already a holiday_wishes comm that's pretty active, so I don't know if this would be too similar to that. (The main difference is the comment-hiding thing to be surprised, and doing it in your own journal the way LJ holiday wishlists used to be.)

Thoughts?
