Jimmy Buffett
Sep. 3rd, 2023 02:14 amThere aren't very many singers who really make me sad when they go; I think the last one was Tom Petty, the soundtrack of my college years. But, well, Jimmy Buffett. Strangely enough, I was just listening to some of his songs yesterday because One Piece always makes me think of it.
I first heard his music on a dubbed cassette that I got for my birthday when I was like 13 or 14, which didn't actually have his name on it, so I didn't know who it was, but I listened to it over and over. Something about it really caught my attention. I always mildly regretted not ever seeing him live, and I think I would have enjoyed it. He was always very much his own thing, which wasn't actually something that would have been my thing in general (do I care about chilling on a beach or running away on a boat to be a pirate? actually no!!) but he absolutely *owned* it, and I loved his music.
Here, have some Buffett.
