Biggles Exchange
Jan. 8th, 2023 09:22 pmI had an absolutely AMAZING gift haul in the Biggles exchange. I still can't believe I got FIVE THINGS and they're all incredible, exactly what I like.
First of all, there was a late one added, in case anyone missed it:
For Better or For Worse (Biggles/EvS + team, 2200 words)
A stack of photos from Fritz arrives in the mail, and Biggles finds they display something he thought was only between him and Erich.
They went to Fritz's wedding! And there are pictures, and they are DARLING, and looking at the pictures of EvS being all soft and happy makes Biggles tumble to his feelings for him. I loved this, and Team Biggles at Fritz's wedding is going into my personal headcanon immediately.

Silent Night (Biggles/EvS, 4300 wds)
Von Stalhein's first Christmas in England.
This is absolutely darling, full of gentle feelings and care and post-Hatchet recovery feelings and EvS putting his life back together and being welcomed into Biggles's home and his little family. Simply wonderful.
Old Habits (EvS + Raymond, 2200 wds)
Biggles has been captured by the Soviets. A rescue attempt is in progress, but von Stalhein isn't very good at sitting at home and waiting.
Raymond doesn't think much of his proposed plan, but he appreciates the company.
Raymond and EvS bonding as only old spies can, with lovely worry and emotional care. One of my requests was for Raymond's viewpoint on EvS and the team, and this was absolutely everything I wanted, with the extra bonus suggestion that EvS will be going out in the field next time because keeping him at home is no good anyway. Headcanon accepted.
Strings Attached (Bertie + EvS, 1300 wds)
In the aftermath of Rodnitz, von Stalhein has a surprising visitor.
Beautiful and gentle post-Looks Back aftermath fic with Biggles's team going out of their way to make EvS feel welcome in London, with a unique and incredibly thoughtful gift. Simply lovely and full of feelings.
a piece of the continent (Biggles/EvS, 2100 wds)
An interlude on the journey away from Sakhalin.
An absolutely lovely snippet of recovery after Buries a Hatchet, with Biggles being the darling that he is and EvS finding a little bit of safety and comfort and care. I could read post-Hatchet comfort fic endlessly, and this is a beautiful example of it.
I love how the theme of all of these is basically "Erich deserves nice things and kindness, and gets all of it." My writers know me well.
And everything else in the collection is fantastic too! I haven't been through all of it yet, and still need to comment on a bunch of things, but there's just so much and it's all so good. What a lovely and successful exchange.
