Fandom Growth Exchange! (Plus a recent Biggles fic bonanza.)

So, as mentioned earlier, I wrote two things for fandomgrowthexchange which are both on brand for me, but completely different brands.

Cool Under Fire (Biggles series, 6900 words, gen, Algy & von Stalhein)
An unexpected person shows up to free Algy from a Soviet prison. Now they're on the run in the wilderness together.

If the characters are cold, wet, miserable, and stranded in the woods, it's probably a Sholio fic.

Meanwhile, those who are following me on AO3 may have noticed an absolute deluge of Biggles fic being posted lately. I spent the last few days of October on a break from my novel and fell headlong into fic writing. (My brain was very much Not Working for a lot of October and I am completely thrilled to have it back again!) So here's a roundup from the last *cough* week or so, in case you missed anything. To be fair, several of these were WIPs I started earlier that I was finishing up.

Men Like Us (gen, 5K)
An old enemy of von Stalhein wants him, and plans to use Biggles to get him. For my h/c bingo "begging" square. (Contains some torture.)

It turns out that some of Biggles's personality traits are contagious. Or at least inspiring. (Or: the one in which EvS adopts a stray enemy spy of his own, and Biggles thinks it's both adorable and hilarious.)

So that's what I've been up to, mostly. How is it November already?

And in other news

Everything from mid-August onward has been, in many ways, a pile of suck this year (though friends and fandom continue to be delightful; thank you, friends and fandom <3) and there is every reason to think that November and December will continue to be Not So Great, so I plan to fling myself wholeheartedly and perhaps obnoxiously into Christmas from Nov. 1 going forward.

I missed out on really doing anything at all for my other favorite holiday (Halloween) or getting to use my Halloween icons much at all, and as much as I completely get why people hate it, I unironically love most of the silly, kitschy, overdone Christmas trappings (sparkly lights! mall santas! gingerbread!), so this year I am putting the SEASON into Christmas season. I will ABSOLUTELY be putting up a tree before Thanksgiving, and I make no apologies. (In fact I plan to buy a fake tree for the first time ever, so that it's possible to leave it up for a month and a half without having it die the death of a thousand needles.) I may seek out new sources of Christmas icons, even. Actually if anyone can point me to some, I welcome them! It's fun for me, so I am going to throw some tinsel around the place.

I doubt if I'll be posting about it THAT much, honestly (Tumblr is more likely to take the brunt of this) but with a paid account you can filter out my "christmas" tag if the tinsel is too much!
