The more I think about my last White Collar post, the more I think that it really ended up being a lot more ... intemperate, I guess, than I really meant it to be. Parts of it should probably have been cut out and ended up in a locked venting post, not a public post. And I'm sorry if my complaints about certain tropes in the fandom upset anyone, or made any of you feel like I was putting down the fic that you write or enjoy. You're just as entitled to what you like as I am to my own favorite tropes -- which goes without saying, I know, but I'm sorry if I implied otherwise.

Mea culpa.

Fresh from the coop (and next to a regular white storebought egg for comparison):

Now I know at least two of them are laying, since the other eggs I've gotten have been brown.

I wasn't expecting them to lay at all this winter; I haven't been supplying extra light and wasn't really planning on it 'til launching them on their new career in February. On the other hand, if they feel like laying, I'm not going to complain about it.

Husband: "That's not a very big egg."
Me: "It's not a very big chicken, either."

[livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking is putting up "stockings" now! Mine is here. You "fill" by commenting with fic, graphics or whatever; they will remain screened until early January.

I had a lot of fun last year writing ficlets for people's stockings, so I decided to ask for one myself this year. :D It's not too late; I am fairly sure that you can continue to sign up even once the stockings start to be posted. Rules etc. at the link (and examples of other stockings). And if you're hunting for stockings to fill, all of them are tagged by fandom. (Keep checking back; they're still putting them up and probably will be at it for a number of days yet.)

Also, [livejournal.com profile] whitecollarhc's theme for commentfic prompts this month is Chronic Illness/Permanent Injury, which sounds SO up my alley! I need to go leave a few prompts, at least. So many things I want to write. So little time. :D

(Er, for those of you who crosspost from DW, is crossposting totally not working for anyone else right now?)
