(no subject)

trobadora and I are having the most fascinating discussion in the comments to my last entry on the Vorkosigan novels on Barrayaran society, social change, and critique of the way the novels handle it, which anyone is welcome to join in on ... spoilers for the entire series may potentially occur, though thus far it's only spoilery for the first two Cordelia novels and A Civil Campaign.

In other news, it's the day after Thanksgiving and apparently I have decided to live on pie. (What? There are only two of us, and we made two pies. Clearly a lot of pie will need to be eaten around this household for the next few days. I'm just doing my part to clean up leftovers!)

This morning we were discussing childrearing practices and the conversation went something like this:

Husband: So you had a fairly libertarian upbringing.
Me: Yes, and I'm glad. It taught me self-control.
Husband: [looks pointedly at my breakfast, which is a slice of pumpkin pie]
Me: ... in some things.

Excuse me, I think the chocolate pie is calling my name now.
