Just an FYI/mea culpa about this story -- as a couple of readers have pointed out to me, my inadequate memory for canon details led to me completely screwing up some of Duncan's established canon (not to mention basically erasing an entire episode in Scottish history). This comment has a great deal more information on the time period than my inadequate research revealed. I do want to apologize for more than just messing up Duncan's religious identity in this story -- the more unforgivable part is that I erased the existence of an entire religious group in Scotland at the time; I'm very sorry and the fault is entirely my own.

hc_bingo square "Homesickness". Duncan doesn't think about what he's left behind. Except when he does.
