Drive-by fic rec

Just read this one at sga_flashfic, and it's really gorgeous and exactly the sort of melancholy-but-sweet h/c that I wanted tonight: Real Live Bleeding Fingers and Broken Guitar Strings by hth_the_first. When I'm in the right mood, I love stories that have sex in them without being romantic, stories that definitely aren't gen but aren't shippy either; I really wish there was a word for it, because I suppose this is technically slash, and graphic slash at that (Rodney/Ronon) but it's really a character study of Ronon and his messed-up relationships with everyone around him following "Broken Ties". The wordcrafting is just lovely, and I love how the emotional distance between the characters is depicted.

While I'm at it, there are quite a few new people watching my journal these days (hi, new people! *waves*) so, in case you don't know about it, stargategenrec is where I do most of my SGA gen recs. I don't manage to rec every gen story that I read and enjoy, but I really try to do most of them. Not to imply that it's my own personal recs community; there are a number of different people reccing over there, and a nice variety of different characters and story types represented, so maybe you'll find something new that you'll like. :) And if you'd like to write a rec, you're certainly welcome to do so -- the community is open to all, and the more people who rec, the more stories to read!
