White Collar fanart (illustration for a fic)

I haven't done fanart in awhile, but I had to do an illustration for attackfish's wonderful dragon!Neal AU Spitfire. If you haven't read the story, you really should read it before viewing the art, because it does spoil the ending quite hugely -- and if you haven't read it, you should! My rec is here - it's sweet and funny and gently magical, and just all-around wonderful.


Anyway, if you haven't read the story, this won't make a whole lot of sense unless you know that it's a series of AU vignettes from seasons 1-3 in which Neal is a dragon, and when in dragon-shape, he grows or shrinks depending on the size of his treasure-hoard. Understandably enough, in season three he's really huge. And then Elizabeth gets taken in "Countdown", and, well ... this happens.

But yeah, tiny Neal wrapped around Peter's hand, being as contrite and comforting as he knows how to be -- that just got to me in a major way. :D

Poor Neal and Peter. They've had a rough year. Both of them have. I'm surprised Neal made it through without having some sort of breakdown from the stress.

We've kinda hit the point where I just want to see something good happen to everybody for a change. Of course, if their lives were all happy and conflict-free, there wouldn't be a show ... *g* But seriously, they've all earned a little happiness!

I would love a change of pace, where the season's focus is not necessarily on some sort of trauma of Neal's.

We're wrapping up three seasons of his angst; it'd be nice for the writers to switch it up and have Peter have some drama that is not necessarily related to Neal and his whimsical criminal ways. :p :p :p

Or maybe not even Peter...how about a bad guy who is not actually interested in destroying Neal or Peter, but who is just causing havoc everywhere he goes?

...I suspect that is too much to hope for, and I suspect I sound like a "bad" fan for wanting the focus of the stories to shift a little. I suspect fandom and fanfic are more to blame for the Neal-fatigue I'm feeling. ;-) I have nothing against the character -- I adore him. I just am losing interest in his apparently incessant dramas. :-D (Like I said, Imma bad fan).

I'm cool with the Neal focus on the big plot arcs (he is the main character, basically), and we've had some great Peter-centric episodes. But I'd hate to see the show get formulaic and stale. I hope they keep trying new things and mixing it up a bit. Delving into the characters' histories would be especially awesome! There is still so much unexplored territory! I'd really love to see more recurring villains, too -- a semi-sympathetic bad guy would be particularly awesome, since the nature of the show means that it's totally possible to have antagonists that we don't want to see lose. (Er, aside from most of Neal's friends, that is. *g*)

I'd love it if they could bring Alex back, and have another arc of hers coincide with some cases that the guys are working on.

Just no more kidnappings. -grin- So far we've had Neal (twice) Peter (twice) Alex, the little girl from S3, the model from S2, Lindsay Gless, and Elizabeth, plus I suppose you could count Jones being taken hostage by the bad guys in the first episode of S3 as kidnapping too.

I would like a new approach to drama. -giggle-

Edit: And Mozzie's girlfriend. And I guess Kate too. Did I miss anyone else?

Thank you! Awww, what a perfect icon for this. :D And thanks - I do love drawing hands; the only problem is that I'm not quite sure they really came out looking like guy hands, since obviously I am using my own hands as a model (in combination with screenshots of Peter's hands). But I tried!

Well, I think it looks perfectly masculine. ;) But I know full well how focusing on a picture you're drawing for too long makes you hyper aware of any shortcomings (kind of like with, say, focusing too long on a story). :P
