Meme?

The week's classes are done! The line edits on my novel are done! \o/ (Now I just have the hard part - rewriting the parts that need to be rewritten. Which I have exactly two days to do. This weekend will be busy, but at least it's the kind of busy that can be accomplished while wearing a bathrobe and having a cat on me.)

I would love to do something creative but I am really too brainfried, and I've been doing enough art in class that I don't really feel like doing art. So how about a fandom meme I saw somewhere. This one stretches my comfort zone a bit ...

Give me a character and I'll tell you two people I ship them with like them paired with.

(This may be purely semantic, but I changed it a bit because I don't think it's wholly accurate to say that I ship characters in most cases. I just like some pairings better than others.)

Any character from anything, provided I'm at least somewhat familiar with it. And you may get a lot of "no pairing!" answers, but I think for most characters I do have at least one preferred ship, particularly for those who have a canon ship ...

Let's see if anyone's around tonight!

Closing the meme now, because I probably should be thinking about bed, and will be too busy tomorrow. Thanks for playing with me! :)

I'm not asking for the meme, as I can see it's closed. I am just laughing at the irony that is life. I was trying so hard to sleep, before finally giving up and hoping that someone might be online. And, lo, we were two ships passing in the night.

(How can I not have an insomnia icon?)

I don't want to keep you up (myself, I'm a hopeless case), but Sara Ellis.

Peter/Sara is of my top AU ships. But given fandom's interest in writing Peter with anyone who isn't Neal or Elizabeth (and Elizabeth is frequently just by default) combined with interest in writing Sara at all, but especially apart from Neal... I don't like my chances.

I keep thinking I would like Sara/Diana if only I had something to go on. They did team up a little in "Under the Radar" (I think. I get confused), but not much else. (I think. I get confused.) 9 times out of 10, I'm a person who needs something in canon to spark me.

My Neal/Sara endgame is not quite like yours, but it's not a conventional happy ever after either. In my happy place, they're together, in a committed relationship, but maybe it's an open relationship. Maybe it's not. Or Maybe they never both to get married. Maybe they're doing something completely different. I want to find a way to satisfy the shipper in me while still staying true to the characters, but your scenario may make the most sense.

I really like your thoughts on Neal & Sara. "I want Sara as a career lady, and Neal as a .... whatever he is, who may even live in separate cities, but definitely have a Thing and very happily resume their Thing whenever they're together." I think there could be very happy that way. It is too bad that there aren't fics for that.

I have come across quite a few where they have settled down and have babies. It is sweet but I just don't see that as ever being a possibility.

I'll admit I can't see Sara with a kid at all. Baby fic has become a much bigger thing in the Neal/Sara section of fandom recently, which despite not being my cup of tea, I actually consider a good thing. (I will not bore you with my essay on the history of Neal/Sara as a ship. I try not to spring that on the unsuspecting.) But that kind of stereotypical domesticity never feels right for Sara, or Neal for that matter. (I think the main difference is that Sara knows she doesn't want it, while Neal has convinced himself that he does.)

I really want fic with Neal and Sara running around chasing bad guys.
