Scene #4: The vault scene from White Collar 1x08
I think one of the reasons why this scene was such a powerful punch in the id for me is that I really did not expect it. I was watching the series completely out of order, and 1x08 was one of the later episodes I watched. At this point I'd also seen quite a few music videos (contrary to my usual behavior, I was totally not worrying about spoilers for WC) and I had never seen any clips from this episode, so I figured that at this point I'd probably seen all of the episodes that contained scenes which were really emotional, sweet or h/c-riffic.
HAHAHAHA NOPE.
As soon as we saw the airtight vault (complete with detailed explanation of how it works) I was hoping that this meant someone would be trapped in it! And the way the scene actually played out surpassed all my WILDEST EXPECTATIONS OF AWESOME. <3 <3 <3
I have always, always been a total sucker for two characters reciprocally saving each other's lives. And this one got me right in the HEART -- what with the "I trust you" and Neal giving up the air thing even though it'll probably kill him and Peter hitting the button for Neal's sake with a shotgun pointed at his face. Even a nice recovery/bonding scene afterwards! Of course the whole thing packed an extra-big punch (more so than it would have on a typical case) because of the trust issues they'd been having earlier. OH BOYS. OH SHOW. ♥
