More cheerful babbling about White Collar

More squee stuff as I continue to rewatch episodes.

• Wow, it's interesting going back to the Peter/Neal dynamic in the really early episodes. I remember the first time I watched the pilot (this was way back when it didn't catch my interest) that I was bothered by how quickly they seemed to develop a rapport, but rewatching those early episodes, I'm struck by the exact opposite -- how tenuous their trust is, and how much of the time they work around each other rather than with each other.

• I miss Neal's longer, floppier hair in the pilot! Is it longer? Or maybe just less heavily permed? Anyway, I like it a lot.

• I miss Neal's more diverse wardrobe in the first season, too. In subsequent seasons, they pretty much just always put him in suits. But in the first season they stick him in a variety of other clothes (the black turtleneck/suit coat combo gets me every time ...).

• Willie Garson has really sexy hands. Why have I never noticed this before? I think part of it is the way that his hands are dressed up -- the rings and the little string bracelets he wears. There's just something about his hands that totally gets to me, though. *stares*

• While I'm being shallow ... PETER'S SHOULDERS. You need to wear short-sleeves shirts more often, Peter. Also, the shoulder holster. Nnngh. (Between this show and Stargate, I think I'm developing a tiny bit of a holster fetish.) I like the way that his shoulder holster has spare clips on it, too -- it took me awhile to notice that.

• The conversation between Peter and Neal at the beginning of 2x12 (What Happens in Burma) is, I think, one of my very favorites of their walk'n'talk conversations throughout the series. It's so ADORABLE. "I tried to get you to go to France." "Neal, you fled to France." "Nitpicking." And it just keeps going! "I should have sent postcards." "No, I had Interpol warrants, just as good. 'Neal's robbing a palace, wish you were here.'" I think what makes this scene so utterly adorable is how cheerful they both are about it. BOYS.

• Awwww, I missed (or forgot) the bit in 2x16 where Peter helps up Neal after they get drugged and then keeps his hand on his shoulder, steadying him, throughout the subsequent scene with Alex. d'awwwww.

• It is probably quite sad that I've watched the Peter-gets-poisoned part of 2x08 enough to notice that the two camera angles they combined to make up the scene at the elevator are not the same take, which you can tell because Neal's hands are in completely different places as they cut back and forth between Peter and Neal. Now that I've noticed it, I keep being disconcerted by it. Augh!

• "Peter, is this a CI-off?" *giggles helplessly* And: "My CI beat your CI!"

• At the end of 2x04, when they find where Mozzie's being kept, Peter barges into a roomful of armed thugs all by himself to save him. Meep! I didn't remember that -- or maybe didn't remember just how dire his (their) situation is, because it's just the one gun against about a half-dozen guys pointing guns at him. Love his victory grin when the SWAT team charges in. And Mozzie taking the gun away from the thug and de-hostagifying himself continues to be awesome.

• There are so few Neal and Elizabeth scenes! I am intrigued, because I really thought they had more interaction than they seem to. But, while there are quite a few scenes of the Burkes and Neal interacting with each other as a group, there is almost nothing with just Neal and El. And now I want more of that!

• Drugged!Neal in 1x10 is still completely adorable.

ETA: Also, speaking of adorable, the behind-the-scenes clips on Youtube ... awwww, I love watching these people so much. Matt Bomer in glasses! Marsha Thomason's real accent! Oh, EVERYBODY.

Okay, back to work now.

I get to post first? Yea!!! :D

New to White Collar, just watched the Pilot and thought it was pretty good. Not sure when I get to watch more of White Collar, so I was wondering if you'd recommend favorite episodes?

And how is it to watch the relationship develop in the right order? I think, this makes really a difference for some episodes. (My personal favourit is still the transition they made in Neal and Diana's relationship in Need to Know - actually, I love the whole episode to bits, Neal conning the whole town (including Mozzie), Peter getting a full dose of Mozzie's weirdness, Diana's backstory and Jennings is wonderful swarmy).

Vicarious squee!

There was a long break between filming the pilot/first episode and getting the go-ahead on the series. Matt Bomer's hair was indeed longer and floppier in the pilot (and I liked it, too)—and of course Marsha Thomason found another job before the network picked up the show.

I hadn't thought about how often people were drugged on this show until your post. Huh.

I do love the boys' banter.
