And here I was doing so well at not caring about Sanctuary. Then I went and watched the preview for next week's episode. Which can be viewed here, if you don't mind spoilers.

I knew there would be a) Tesla and b) vampires in this one, but - Tesla! Stabbitied and trapped in a cave with Helen! I suspected he'd get revamped in this one - I just hope it's not permanent, because I like him much better depowered - but .... is it to save his life, perhaps? DAMN IT, ID, SHUT UP, NO ONE ASKED YOU. XD

Hee! I'm predictable, aren't I. *g* Yeah, I like him a whole lot better when he's powered down; I think it makes him a much more interesting character. I knew there was going to be an episode with other vampires this season, so I figured he'd probably get revamped, but I still hope that it's temporary. *crosses fingers*

Hee! I .... hesitate to pimp ANYBODY into Sanctuary, because I really don't like this show all that much, but I think I've mentioned that you'd probably like Tesla. And this episode looks like it's going to be bringing the h/c, inasmuch as the show ever does. So, um. I'm probably doing a bad job of convincing you not to watch it, aren't I? ^^;;

...plus it's got Amanda Tapping, and watching the clips you linked reminded me how I miss watching her (even if she does have dyed hair and the wacky accent!)

Over in the comments on DW, it was pointed out that this episode is written by Gillian Horvath of the Highlander writing staff. I'd already noticed that she was involved with the Sanctuary production crew, but when I went and looked up her credits on IMDB, I discovered that she wrote my favorite Tesla episode to date (... it was the other big Tesla h/c episode ...). Heeeee, she introduces a lot of the extras on the HL DVDs and it's hilariously obvious that she's a total fangirl for the show in general, and for Methos in particular. It doesn't surprise me to discover that she's apparently transfered that allegiance to Tesla now. :D

Tesssssla! I... kind of want him to get revamped? He was just so sad when I lost it! And he was just such a glorious bastard when he had it! I mean, okay, he was a bastard even sans the vampire thing, but...

I think what I like better about Tesla unvamped is that he's a better person - I do agree with you about the "glorious bastard" thing, and I loved him as a vampire and never knew what I was missing 'til he was unvamped ... but I really like how the depowered version of him needs people more than he used to. You'd never catch vampire!Tesla hanging around the Sanctuary unless there was a pressing crisis. I just like what it's done for him as a character, and I'm kind of hoping that the revamping isn't permanent. On the other hand, it'll be fun to see him get his vampire on, also ...

Does non!vamp Tesla ever just hang around the Sanctuary when there's not a pressing crisis (or interesting puzzle)? I take your point, though - if nothing else, there are more excuses for an unvamped Tesla to actually make appearances on the show, which can only ever be a good thing. *grin*

Well, point. *g* But he's definitely there, if not continually after "Trail of Blood", then regularly off and on ... whereas, prior to that, I think the only time he was at the Sanctuary for any length of time was during the Ashley thing. The out-of-canon reason, of course, is that they had Jonathon Young for more episodes. *g* And in canon, his presence at the Sanctuary probably had something to do with him and Helen patching things up. But I do think that Tesla being human was at least partly responsible for that cessation of hostilities -- he not only wouldn't have needed rescuing in "Trail of Blood" if he hadn't been human, but he's more at loose ends, and less engaged with his own (world domination) plans. When he's a vampire, unless he gives up the supervillain thing (which I don't see happening), there's no way that he and Helen can be much more than enemies with occasional periods of mutual truce.

... none of which means that I can't understand why people like him as a vampire; heck, *I* liked him as a vampire! I'm looking forward to getting a few more vampy!Tesla scenes, while at the same time hoping it doesn't stick. I just hate the idea of seeing him shift back to the antagonist role when I'd gotten used to him as an ally (albeit a reluctant and occasionally annoying one *g*).
