Coupla belated things

The reveals are out on [livejournal.com profile] yuletart! I did this ink and watercolor painting for Jean M. Auel's Earth's Children books.

Also, since the [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa reveals are up, I can link to the fantastic second fic that was written for me as a pinch hitter (being anon, I couldn't admit that Pinch Hitter #11 was me *g*). It's A Little Glory by [personal profile] vain_glorious, and it's a short and wonderfully fun team fic with lots of banter and Rodney being all hero-y despite an epic case of foot-in-mouth disease. It's lovely! Go read it if you haven't already. :)

I'm looking forward to the [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking reveals being out, because I wrote quite a bit of fic for it, and that'll be the last of my holiday exchange stuff.

I'll open signups for [livejournal.com profile] sga_genficathon in a month or so. Last year the signups were rather truncated, so I'll leave them open quite a bit longer this time.

Exactly! With characters being competent and managing all sorts of things, and all the details that makes the world feel so real and so different from anything in my experience. Hee.

I haven't reread them in many years either. I never read the fifth book when that came out, because by then I realized the books weren't all that good. And apparently Ayla and Jondalar's daughter is named Jonayla, which makes me squirm. o_O

I actually think part of it is that the early books are genuinely better than the latter ones. At least I hope so? Because tiny!me loved the first two to bits, but even then I was frustrated by the the characters not talking to each other in The Mammoth Hunters, and the fourth was... I remember it being a lot of fun in between very very long segments of nothing?
