Your peculiar SPN link of the day

While the art in the Supernatural tie-in comic is apparently nothing to write home about (Exhibit A for the prosecution), [livejournal.com profile] kadymae had a link to this cover that absolutely cracked me *up*, because if Sam's a baby then little Dean has got to be something like four years old, and he totally looks prepared to chew you off at the knees.

Ok that? ...I still can't stop giggling. Pint-sized Dean ready to chew your face off. Excellent way to start the morning! *g* I salute you with my coffee cup.

As generally bad as the art is, I still think Dean would have had exactly that expression through most of his childhood and adolescence.

Poor John.

*dies laughing at "bite your kneecaps" version of Dean*

I have to admit, that I've never really been all that much into comic books. Even as a kid, most of the comics I read were from a section of the newspaper.

But seriously, is that a NORMAL standard of artistic ability for comics? Because the comic style icons that I see around the LJ show more artistic talent than that. But, as I said, I'm hardly an expert.

Still, hmmm...

No; that art is really quite awful, even by comic standards. Not that there isn't quite a bit of lousy comic art out there, but there is also some that's very good and some that's outstanding.

They really seem to scrape the bottom of the barrel on artists for tie-in comics, though ... kind of like tie-in novels appear to be written by the authors on the very bottommost end of the pay scale (though not always; the Fandemonium ones seem to be pretty good so far). I don't know if you've seen any of the art for the Atlantis comics, but it's hilariously awful. It looks like the artist just traced from still photos of the actors, and Weir has this demonic-possession look in many of the shots of her. (Hey, maybe they should get the Winchesters to do something about that!)

Although, like I replied to the person above you ... despite the awfulness of the art, I can SO see Dean spending basically his entire childhood with that look on his face.
