sholio: sun on winter trees (SGA-dorks)

*eeeheeheehee*

I just got ahold of a version of "Ark" with the missing minute or so that was cut off the small download ...

Okay, my Sheppard!Love is just through the ROOF in this episode ...

We had the return of super-competent, super-serious leader Sheppard (and as much as I love Sheppard the giant dork, it wouldn't be nearly as much fun if it wasn't in contrast to this side of him).

We had pilot Sheppard (and Rodney's "may as well be straight out of fanfic" comment about "You think you can fly anything!").

And now we have Sheppard teasing Teyla in the infirmary (squee!) and admitting, once again, how much he cares about his team (but in an offhand, Sheppardesque kind of way), and then that tossed-off remark about Rodney at the end which totally recalls his reluctant "... and Rodney" in the Daedalus scene in "Sateda" -- *and* was a perfect parallel to Rodney telling Elizabeth that they should go ahead and let Sheppard melt himself into a puddle of protoplasm in the machine at the end of "Tao". Of course it's perfectly, amply, evidently obvious, especially in light of the whole rest of the episode, that it's all TEASING, right? Heeeeeeeee.

I love this show.

'You think you can fly anything' was a great line...

Not least, because John DOES think he can fly anything IMHO, and with good reason. He's a damn fine pilot (we won't mention how incredibly sexy that fact makes him).

BUT ALSO because Rodney think that he himself can FIX anything, adn with good reason. He's a damn fine Chief Scientist....

Pot. Kettle. Black.

Ditto! :O)

I forgot to keep my rule of not looking at anyone elses posts about the episdoes except for the people on my friends list...

I found someone freaking out over the teasing comment John made at the end there... *SIGH* We know he's just kidding and that of COURSE he would do it for Rodney too!

a perfect parallel to Rodney telling Elizabeth that they should go ahead and let Sheppard melt himself into a puddle of protoplasm in the machine at the end of "Tao".

And the person that was freaking out over it totally forgot about this! That Rodney does exactly the same thing with some of his jokes!

the snarky boys are awesome! :O)

Exaclty... *SIGH* I REALLY REALLY need to stop reading other people's posts.... GRR it goes along the same lines as my other comment about needing to know whats happening and why I end up reading the spoilers...

Staying off the comptuer for a day or so after the episode airs - so that that people's comments move off the first few pages of a friendsfriends search (and the SGA_newsgroup member list) might be a good idea... I can't seem to stop myself from looking so if it took longer to find those post maybe I wouldn't. A lot of it is bordom though - I'm bored so I go looking to see what other people are talking about and then I see that they've posted about the epsidoes and click on the cut tags...

Also need to stop whining about shit to other people...

*nods* and honestly the people complaning that I find are pretty much the same people each time... why they are still watching the show I will never get. Blah

Fanfic can be really annoying - I haven't actually read a lot of new fic lately unless I know the author and I know how they treat the characters. Its probably why I re-read Farm in Iowa so much - I can trust it. I've tried reading more non-McKay/Sheppard fics but I've found that most of those just end up treating one chracter or another like shit depending on the pairing (I said this before didn't I), so I end up back to reading McKay/Sheppard anyway. Then trying to find a good Gen story is even worse sometimes.

Was the Teo tag an AU version on SGA_flashfic? (that's the only long tag she's writen for Teo at this point - and that was with someone else) If it is I know that almost all of her stuff is John/Rodney focused without paying much attention to the other characters - so I don't mind it so much. Because I know what to expect.

I do know what you mean though about wanting more team centric stories. I think I'm still at a point where Teyla and Ronon don't always interest me THAT much so them not being in a fic isn't always a problem. I do love it when they are, but when they arn't I'm not that bothered by it. Plus I'm more interested in Carson, Rodney, John, and Redek in fic than Teyla and Ronon so that's a whole other issue.

To be honest I actually skimmed most of that one because they brought up Cheya and it got a little annoying. *shrug* I took it as a humor story not really to be taken seriously anyway. :O)

With a new author I tend to try out the their short stories first, which doesn't always work out but sometimes it lets me know how they treat the characters. Longer stories are a risk but depending on my mood I will try out a long story.

When I said they'd never say 'it', the 'it' was that they were best friends. Sorry, it's tomorrow here.

I don't remember what stories of [livejournal.com profile] skoosiepants I've read but I think I usually am a bit confused by hers or something.... have to double check since it's been a while since I read any of her stuff.

Anyway depending on where the story is posted the discriptions don't always tell you much (from what I've seen)... I usually read a few paraphis in and see how the characters are interacting. I can usually tell pretty quickly if the author is going to bash one of the characters. Sometimes it does take a little while longer to figure out.

*nods* I took a quick look at her fic listing and I've read a couple of them. Definaly all down to having different tastes. I find her stuff a little to wierd - I'd read them agin but I have to be in the right mood. And it has nothing to do with the Characterizations just the situations.

[identity profile] with-apostrophe.livejournal.com 2007-01-10 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
I've just seen the scene and it's light and funny. Oh dear! I'm so glad I've not seen any such stupid rants!

A few months ago my friend's husband was talkign to me about one of his friends. He was pretty rude about him, but in the next breath explained that he was his best friend. Now I know John and Rodney would never say it, but here I was with actually proof that some guys REALLY are like that with each other, thinking 'that's so John and Rodney'.

It really is the perfect partner to the end of 'Tao...'. And can we please not forget that in the ep between those two we discovered that they really do hang out with each other, and that there was never any REAL animosity between them - just boyish rivalry. Maybe they misunderstood that too - as Weir seemed to.

Blech!

I didn't know until I saw the actual transcript that Teyla had pressed John into almost admitting that yes he WOULD do it for Rodney too. :O)

And ditto to everything else.

[identity profile] with-apostrophe.livejournal.com 2007-01-10 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
'Yeah, I think even for Rodney.'

Yes, because John DID spend HOURS 'helping' Rodney meditate. And he didn't want to HEAR of Rodney dying, because he wouldn't accept it. And he did look pretty darn close to tears at Rodney's 'death bed'.

And they do after all actually have an ESTABLISHED IN SEASON 2 'habit of saving each other's lives.'

If John were so horrible, why would he be the FIRST person Rodney turns to when he's discovered the 'whales'. Or why does he go to John to talk about Rod and the situation with Jeannie?

Where's the logic people? Spock would be ashamed (if he felt shame - which he did - I pay attention).

He'd point out that these people are emotional humans who don't HAVE logic... And McCoy would snap that sometimes logic isn't enough....

AND LOOK WHAT YOU STARTED! :O)

Yes, they would.

I'm going to bed for real this time.

Oh yeah I think all the shows I've ever really liked have had that kind of interaction between guy friends. I LIKE the snarky kinds of friendships. Non-snarky friednships are boring. :O)

[identity profile] with-apostrophe.livejournal.com 2007-01-10 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Most of mine are. Ok, they DO sometimes step over a line, but then I make it clear that the line has been crossed, and we've gone from banter into 'ouch' territory. It's very rare that it happens, however.

And like John and Rodney, my three closest friends are NOT people that I looked at when I first met them and thought 'I'd like it if they were my friend'. In fact for two of them it was a case of 'well I'll never be friends with them!'

Friendships 'happen'. I know looking back that I can most often than not, NOT pin point why or how.

And that's what makes it so awesome when they do end up being friends. :O)
