three_weeks_for_dw is a 3-week period at the end of April/beginning of May to encourage content-posting on DW. (Here's an explanation.) I was thinking about doing something for it this year, since I still post my (relatively infrequent) locked posts to LJ only and a lot of the fannish places where I play are on LJ; it seems fair to do a little DW-only stuff too, since I like both places. But, yeah, no time. However, here are some currently ongoing multifandom DW commentfic fests that are Relevant To My Interests:

- The People With Disabilities Being Awesome Commentfic Fest hosted by terajk (now with an index of prompts on Delicious). Come on people, leave me some Highlander prompts so I don't have to resort to answering my own. *g* Thus far, I have written this untitled commentfic (though it grew to about 1400 words, not so much of a commentfic after all) for the prompt "Dresden Files - Michael Carpenter - 'Get away from my children'".

- Friendship Fic Comment Fest at littlegreen42. NEEDS MORE PROMPTS. :D (Highlander? Stargate? A:tLA? :D?)

- Asexy Fanworks Comment Meme at asexual_fandom.

- Transfic Mini Fest hosted by torachan.

- livrelibre has a big list of commentfic fests with several that I didn't know about.

- ETA: And also the fantastically awesome 3W4DW anime/manga/manhwa/manhua drabblefest hosted by littlebutfierce! SO MANY FESTS I CANNOT KEEP UP WITH THEM ALL.


These bite-sized fic fests are great for me right now, because I really can't spare the time to sit down and write anything long, but having all these prompts available is giving me oodles of inspiration to scribble off something short.

Actually, hosting this fest has given me TONS of new fandoms to check out--which is an awesome problem to have. (*Why* did somebody check the first volume of Bleach and The Thief out at the library--WHY???)

*laughs* Yeah, lack of familiarity is basically my problem (ETA: I mean my problem with participating, not that there's something objectively wrong with it *facepalm*) with the anime/manga/manwha commentfic thing (oh damn, forgot to include that in my list of links! SO MANY FESTS, SO LITTLE TIME) ... I used to be pretty heavily involved in anime/manga fandom ten years ago, but now, I'm only familiar with a teeny percentage of the fandoms that people are prompting for! Either it's something I've never seen/read, or I'm so hopelessly out of date (see: Bleach) that I don't know most of the characters that are being asked for. And I'm a little embarrassed to leave my hopelessly old-skool prompts ... XD

I hear you--especially since I've come to an old-skool fandom, like, 10-20 years after everybody else and it is NEW TO ME, OKAY? (oops). But there are twoRanma 1/2 prompts there (not all mine--and both filled!), and also a Sailor Moon prompt....so there's old-skool stuff there, in case you're not too embarrassed.

(Okay, so my ulterior motive is RANMA 1/2 PROMPTS FOR ME TO FILL, MAYBE, but even if not and you want to, I say go for it :D)

Oh! I hadn't thought of that, either.

Trying to come up with examples of canon PWD in media sources makes you realize just how many of them there are, even if the source itself doesn't deal with it. I think most fandoms have at least one or two, though sometimes you have to look at background, recurring or one-shot characters to find them.

And sometimes it's the side materials that actually mention the disability.

Portal's got one or two human PWD now, depending on how you read the add-in comic on the tie-in website. I'm thinking up a fill with one of them now (Portal 2 so asked for it), and debating posting a prompt about the other.
