RIGHT! I guess I can add a new tag, since it appears that I've been sucked down the fannish black hole that is Avatar: The Last Airbender over the last few days. (We're up to 2x04 in, um, four days. Or maybe three. Can't stop watching, send help.)

xparrot's favorite character is. NO REALLY, NO IDEA AT ALL. *runs, hides*
- Speaking of which, Zuko really reminds me of Vegeta. Only 90% less evil. (In fact, basically, he got kicked out of his family for not being evil enough. Hee!) I guess the parallels to Kaiba are even stronger, but Vegeta's the one I keep thinking of. And, yes, I seem to have fan-oriented on him like a little homing arrow. Sometimes I go for the obvious fancandy character, and sometimes I don't. This appears to be one of the times when I do.
- Which is not to say I don't love the others, because I do, so very much. I especially love how Sokka is the unpowered one of the group, but is just as cool, interesting and useful as the others. And I love Katara. And, well, everyone.
- The set design/worldbuilding/visuals ... OMG. *_* I'm just in artistic raptures from episode to episode. The creatures! (Pentapus! Platypus bear!) And the wonderfully rich, detailed cultures and settings -- not to mention the continuity, which is awesome; I love how characters and places are referenced repeatedly, rather than merely being one-offs. That was Zuko's sister in the flashback scene that appeared something like ten episodes before she actually showed up in the series, right? The creators are really paying attention, and it shows.
- Two words: FLYING. BISON. I still have not stopped giggling whenever we see Appa(?) in flight mode.
- My only actual complaint with the series thus far is COULD REALLY USE MOAR WOMEN, but that seems to be fixing itself even as we speak, and my one bitty spoiler for future episodes seems to speak to this need, as well. So that just leaves me with ...

I really don't want spoilers, so I can't search for fanstuffs. Does anyone happen to have any recs of vids/art/fics that are pre-mid-season-two? To be honest, what I mostly want is vids -- I'm not that interested in other things, but I have been craving some vidding for this show. I don't dare go looking, though, because this is a show that I really don't want to be spoiled for. I would also love to add an icon or two (of Zuko, especially) but don't want to search for them. (The thought occurs to me that fandom could really use some kind of "rewind" feature when one is going through old fandoms, to locate interesting fanstuff without being spoiled! Right now, the only options are to wait until the end, when there is no more new canon to continue the obsession, or to risk serious spoilers. It would be nice to be able to indulge the obsession while it's in full flower, without ruining the fun by discovering that Character X dies in season four ...*)

And, yeah, Sokka! Sokka is so awesome, and I really love that he's not "just" the comic relief; he's resourceful and brave, with his own skill set, and capable of holding his own in fights against much more powerful people. I was a little worried that they'd do the DBZ thing, where the fighters/benders get increasingly powerful until "normal" characters can't keep up, but they don't seem to be doing that.

Oh, yes, the only reason Iroh isn't ruling the world is because he's got better things to be doing. Like taking care of his idiot nephew...! (...and drinking
delicious teadeadly poison... ^^;;;;)And yes, Sokka's awesomeness is that he can be both the comic relief and a badass. (actually Zuko's awesome for the same reason, though with Zuko you do more laughing at than laughing with XP)

(Really, for the most part, making me care about characters is not hard. Just give me characters who care about each other, and I'll fall like a ton of bricks.)
And, yeah, Zuko's general badassery combined with how very awful he is at being a villain ... it's special. :D How many times can you get your ass handed to you by three kids on a flying bison? I still love that his family basically threw him out because he just wasn't evil enough.

And yes, I heard about the announcement! I've been very actively avoiding any discussion of it so as not to spoiler myself for the end of the series, but I'm very excited; as much as I'm enjoying the series, I'm sad that it'll be over soon -- but this means there will be something new to look forward to!
I'm also looking forward to exploring the fandom once I finish the series so that I can dive in. :) I've heard about the shipwars -- and watching the series without being in the fandom, I'm just vaguely baffled by that, because all of the canon couples are cute, and I don't want the characters to be anything other than what they are. *shrugs in vague puzzlement* Anyway, yes, I'm looking forward to getting to look around! And thank you again for looking up fan things for me!

And I really want to hug Zuko. He's just adorable. My favourite character is him or Katara or Iroh, who sends me into giggles just by his mere presence on the screen now. And I love love love the effects of bending, and the whole world, it's just so beautiful.
