It's red watercolor, splattered on paper and then inverted in Photoshop. It was actually one of several spatter textures I'd done when I was making siria's Big Bang art last year. (Originally, it was meant to suggest blood.) I still had a folder of different stuff I'd scanned for that project, so I was dropping them in to play around with different backgrounds for the portrait, and discovered that putting her on a mostly-black background really made the art pop.
This is awesome! You captured the Wraith features while keeping Teyla's beauty. Love the coloring of her flesh tones, and the hair is awesome, not so lost in a tangle. But it's the shiny leather that just pops!
