I finally signed up for Yuletide after rewriting my requests about a million times. I keep feeling like I'm being an awfully demanding recipient because all of my requests are kind of long. But when I'm writing for someone, I really appreciate it if my recipient gives me a bunch of details about what sort of stories they enjoy, so I decided to go for more detail rather than less. And I will probably write a Yuletide letter, but trying to work out that was what really had slowed me down -- so I decided to go ahead and sign up, and finish the letter in time for the recipient matching. I'm so busy right now that it would completely suck to lose track of time and realize that I'd missed the signup window.

In conclusion: Yay, Yuletide! And eek, Yuletide! And I really, really need to finish my sga_santa story ... *chews nails*

Cool! What are your fandoms? Or is that a secret?

I only discovered the awesomeness of the yuletide archive very recently, and since spent some time happily browsing the archive. Not enough fic to go on a binge, but it's so nice to find fic for shows where I'd thought none existed. Yuletide is such a great concept.

It's not a secret (and I guess will be even less of one when I get my "Dear Writer..." letter written *g*). The fandoms I'm requesting are three book fandoms ("The Foundling" by Georgette Heyer, the Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold, and the Death Gate series by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman) and one TV fandom, Wiseguy.

Yuletide is awesome. The archive is a fantastic place to find fic in small fandoms, and it's generally of consistently high quality, too!

I love Yuletide! So many gems there, and it's so much fun to go browsing through the archives and find a high quality fic for a fandom you wouldn't have guessed there'd be fic for. I always wait very impatiently for the stories each year... as a spectator rather than a participant, but still. :D

I can't wait! I remember very fondly how much fun I had in 2007, getting all excited and waiting for the archive to go live. Last year I was traveling and couldn't participate, but I'm glad to have the opportunity this year.

Yay! I have my requests ready, I'm still considering which fandoms to offer. I'm leaving rather detailed prompts, just making sure the author knows I'd be okay with other stuff too.

*nods* Mine are mostly a list of "Squee, you could do this! But this thing would also be awesome! Or this!" I figure that more options are better than not enough.

I may crib your style for my Yuletide letter, not having written one before (my first Yuletide - previous years I've been too swamped to dare commit to it) since I kept my prompts semi-vague because I tend to try dictate stories otherwise.
