Yep! Dog Eared Books does a virtual signing (http://www.jim-butcher.com/news/000328.php) for each of Butcher's books; unfortunately it takes a couple weeks past the time the book actually comes out for it to ship... *sigh*
awww! I hope you get it soon (or have already gotten it). I was kind of surprised, in a good way, that I got mine so quickly, since the mail can be slow here in the middle of nowhere...
it came last night...and i'm about twenty chapters in...its a bit...um...terse in the new scene descriptions and rather self referential to prior stuff, isnt' it? i feel like i need to notecard to go check all the oblique prior episode references...sheesh...sometimes he writes really expansively and defines the new characters lushly, this time, not so much... i wonder what the difference is...
ARGH! No time to read! Soon though. And he'll be in town for a signing next month :) Which is good, usually he's in town in early April... and no way in hell can I make it, so I get my friend to get my book signed and she says he now recognizes her and jokes "sure, you're getting this signed FOR A FRIEND WHOs A HUGE FAN." :) I was called 'the invisible fan' for quite a while.
I have a independent local bookstore that actually seems to have major connections. They have a lot of author signings - like all month long, and have gotten some major players. You should have seen the line when Anne McCaffrey was in town!!! And I stood in that line too :)
I've met Butcher a number of times - at Comic Con (he has been coming the past several years), at a World Con in Boston, and at this local bookstore, which so far, he's signed at every year in April for the last four/five? Dresden books. If you want something signed, I could get it for you.
