A couple more "McKay & Mrs. Miller" comments
You know, contrary to what I said in my last post, I *did* actually do an episode reaction post for "Common Ground". Why don't I remember doing that? I guess this is what happens when two weeks go by between episodes...
Anyway -- a couple more things about "McKay & Mrs. Miller" that I forgot to mention in my last post. One thing is that the Carter & McKay interaction in this episode seemed a little more relaxed and friendly than in "Pegasus Project" -- more like the playful, semi-affectionate tone of the latter half of "Redemption" or in "Grace Under Pressure". I especially liked the bit where she put her hand on his shoulder after teasing him about being called Meredith -- it seemed very much the sort of thing a friend would do. The "cute Canadian way of saying sorry" scene was also adorable as all hell. It was funny, too, how the condescention in this episode was basically reversed from "Pegasus Project" -- over there, you had the SG1 people picking on McKay, and here, he was hella condescending to Carter; she must've had the patience of a saint not to smack him for some of the things he said to her. *grin*
The other thing is that once again, those pesky Stargate writers have used one of my fanfic ideas -- I had a half-finished one that dealt with the idea of the SGA team ending up with a "perfect" version of Rodney and trying to get the imperfect one back. Aargh!

And really, there are only so many plots, and only so many clever little ideas that work for the characters. I've seen fanfics that were very similar yet I *know* were written independently. It's not surprising that the canon writers would cover similar ground to the 'fic writers.
