Fall Into Horror
The Fall Into Horror collection is revealed (horror prompting collection associated with Summer of Horror) and I got a 19K(!!!!!) treat for one of my prompts!
Strange Meetings by Anon (19,336 words, Biggles, EvS-centric, gen)
This was for a prompt I left for Erich being under a curse - any type of curse - and it DELIVERS. Warning for some pretty dark content in the first chapter (but in the best way, I say as someone who likes that kind of thing - there's one scene which is right up there with some of the best published horror I've read, in a Grade-A nightmare-fuel kind of way**) and the emotional payoff is excellent.
(Also can I just say that the Mysterious Writer did a truly incredible job threading the needle of my DNWs which honestly must have been pretty tough for this plot, but the results are A++++.)

Decades ago in elementary school, I read a story I have never been able to find again or even identify with drowned horror in a submarine! I shall have to check this out.

(a) This is true; it's great.
(b) Do agree it feels like a bizarrely underserved subgenre considering the nightmare fuel baked in at the engineering and physics levels.
(c) Please enjoy Gemma Files' "Blood Makes Noise" (1998).

(sorry couldn't resist breaking out the ghost Biggles icon)

But yes, ghost Biggles is MOST appropriate here, and it's such a lovely creepy perfect-for-ghost-season kind of story!
