Some of them are amazing, though. Along with a few of my perennial choices (shifter AU!) just imagine them as squabbling academics. Or Erich as the single dad next door. Or what roles they'd all have in a circus .... Now distinctly tempted to send the canon characters undercover in a circus.

Dragon AU! I am not sure whether I prefer that as a Pern-style dragonrider AU or something more like Temeraire... imagine Algy as Biggles's dragon!

Single Parent AU - EvS does come to London shortly after the war as a refugee, bringing his young nephew, and willing to do almost anything to get his sister out too?

As sweetsorcery said, how amazing would Biggles and Erich be as trapeze partners? In Flies East verse; manifestly untrusting of the other, except when they literally have each others’ lives in their hands. I feel like Erich could also do some surprising tricks on horseback. Imagine Algy trying not to give the game away while watching the trapeze act with his nails bitten down to the quick…
