Amperslash author reveals!
I was incredibly predictable as usual. But I had fun! What a delightful exchange, and I loved everything in it, including my sweet and lovely gift. I hope it runs again.
I wrote three things - my assignment, a treat, and a pinch hit. Amperslash leans into ambiguity (is it & or / or both?) and that certainly did make tagging these a challenge.
Desert Wolf (Biggles/EvSish, 2400 wds, Flies East AU)
There was a flash of fur, and then von Stalhein ... the wolf ... the wolf that was von Stalhein sprang out the window in a great bound like a leaping greyhound. Or: Biggles uncovers a shocking secret in Zabala.
My recipient's likes included werewolf AUs, which I also love. In full disclosure, this was actually the second werewolf AU I wrote for this assignment. The first one was hurt/comforty and was basically a sequel to my other werewolf AU (the one with the iron muzzle) that I tried to scrub of its obvious sequel-ness. Eventually I decided it was too obviously a sequel and also that, based on their request, my recip would probably like sexy werewolves better than woobie werewolves, so I went a different direction. I'll post the other one soonish, once I've had a chance to put the sequel stuff back in ...
Holding On Until Dawn (Biggles/EvSish, 3400 wds)
A hyper and sleep-deprived Biggles shows up on Erich's doorstep.
In a classic demonstration of the entire fandom sharing one brain cell, I found out when FIAB revealed that a different author had written basically this exact idea for the same recip, Post-Mission Drop, which is excellent and you should all read. It is very much a case of Two Cakes, written and posted with no influence from each other's cake, so it's really fascinating and fun to see how we both handled basically the same idea, including sideplots such as Algy wondering where he was. (Mine was spawned primarily by thinking about the likelihood of Biggles getting extremely hyper and jittery if he goes for too long without sleep, which I also want 200 fics about, by the way.)
Muscle Memory (Gennish, 6000 wds)
Erich tries to move beyond his past. It's not always easy.
Someone, at this point I genuinely can't remember who (see above re: one brain cell), posted a fic snippet a while back in which Erich is tortured when he refuses to kill Biggles, which promptly made me want to write a fic in which Biggles finds out about this. And that was the seed this one coalesced around. I'm not entirely sure its final form is actually the fic I wanted to write for that idea after all, since this one is really more a different sort of h/c and comfort, so I may tackle the same basic idea again in a different way later. But that was the underlying inspiration for this, as well as just kind of dealing with Erich having to learn how to work with a team again.

Having said that, once I've posted more in this fandom, my writing is bound to become far more easily guessable. But I'm so glad you loved them both.
