Spook_Me is back!

spook_me is back for another round! I was sad about having to skip it last year, so this year I'm here with bells on to inflict supernatural horrors on my faves.

(We shall not speak of how many years I've absolutely bombed this. I think I actually managed to write fic for it ... twice? maybe three times? OH WELL, hope springs eternal.)

Anyway, I need to pick a creature (or creatures?) to inflict on the Biggles crew. See the full list of spook-me critters under the cut with the ones I'm thinking about marked with an asterisk.

Help me choose! Suggest ideas! It doesn't have to be just the asterisk'd ones. Also, you don't have to limit yourself to Biggles if you want to throw out some ideas for my other fandoms. (Although my brain seems to be on an airplane track these days, it doesn't have to be.)

Well, all I know of Biggles is that there are planes involved somewhere, so you can go with the classic 'snakes on a plane'

There are actually snakes on a plane in canon, but nobody gets bitten.

I think aquatic monster would be really good for some kind of crashed on an island/flying out of atols in the pacific type story. Ghosts and airplanes always combine in excellently creepy ways. (I'm doing ghost myself this year, hopefully. I'm as bad as you at flaking on this, if not worse.) You could also just go full on "it's aliens," especially if they're investigating a creepy thing, and it turns out to be beyond human knowledge.

I am always a big fan of aquatic monsters, mad scientists, and ghosts. If you're on an airplane kick, maybe especially ghosts: a phantom airfield.

Phantom airfield... they try to land and there's no airfield there, though they could see it from the air? Or they land, and they find they've somehow landed in the past...

At an airfield Biggles flew out of in the war, perhaps. Meeting once again the shades of long-dead pilots.

Can they see him, can they speak to him? Or is he invisible to them?

I'll go a step aside from the other ideas developing and wonder, what if the phantom airfield is in fact an airfield in a nearby universe? A thin worldwall and whoops, you have a (temporary, because they absolutely have to get out again) transdimensional landing!

For a fandom with multiple decapod attacks in canon, there’s a terrible lack of aquatic monsters in fic, and I always love a good mad scientist... perhaps the aquatic monster is bred and trained by the mad scientist to capture intruders and bring them to his underwater lair?

You know, as much as those two are compatible in tone, I just kind of can't make it work in my head as being plausibly in the same universe! (I've gotten prompts for it and just ... couldn't. My brain is going TOO DIFFERENT, DOESN'T WORK.) But at the same time, I could very easily see them ending up investigating the same sorts of things!
