... I think at this point he just assumes any airplanes in his general vicinity are being flown by Biggles. And, I mean, he's usually right.

Anyone know where I might look for a biplane or aviation-related icon? Because if I'm going to keep posting about this, I definitely need one. ETA: Made myself one!

My theory is that he deliberately gets involved in airplane-related crime to attract Biggles’s attention. And he must be awfully twitchy going through airports. Especially since he does literally walk right into Biggles in one <3

I found it completely hilarious that they're in thousands of square miles of wilderness, an airplane randomly shows up, and his immediate (also correct) assumption is that Biggles is flying it. I mean, by this point experience has probably taught him that it's usually true!

Picture how betrayed von Stalhein would be if they sent someone after him in an airplane and it wasn’t Biggles! He would just have to have a fight without any flirting or lectures on being a better person!

Biggles would be outraged, too. Someone might have gotten hurt!

... I'm currently reading "Biggles Learns to Fly" and you're right, teenage Biggles is unfairly adorable. I just want to give him a hug and never let anything bad happen to him ever. 💔

Also, this makes me realize that he was shockingly young in "Biggles Flies East," much younger than I realized when I read it. He couldn't have been more than 18 or 19! Which adds several frankly hilarious layers to everything that goes on with von Stalhein in that book, first of all that Biggles is confronted with this suave, dashing, hyper-competent older man at an age when he is going to be extremely prone to crushes, and second, von Stalhein's entire Lawrence of Arabia career was blown apart by this unassuming-looking teenage kid. No wonder they both made an impression on the other!

It’s been interesting coming back to the books as an adult, because when I first read Learns to Fly I was about 10 and Biggles was definitely an adult. Now he’s only just older than my eldest, which is clearly ridiculous!

I adore the training sequences where he trips on things, and gets lost directly above his own aerodrome, and flies in a dogfight while assuming Mark is just shooting for fun. Mark is a darling too <3

Couldn't you use one of the Biggles cover images or something from the comic for your icon base? One good thing about icon being still only 100x100 is that you don't need to find highres images to crop them from.

I decided to just go find myself a biplane picture that I liked and make an icon out of that. The small icon size does make it easier!

I know I've never heard of Biggles but I had this feeling that I had heard of it somewhere. So, I googled it and there was a movie in which John Deacon of Queen had a hand in writing the soundtrack. There are a few pictures of him online in flight googles and scarf which I'd seen and never figured out why he was photographed in the get-up.

No Turning Back, the theme song of the movie features an adequate singer and a killer bass-line by Deacon,if that is something you enjoy.

I somehow feel that it fits with everything else I have learned about the movie that Queen was involved with the soundtrack.
