Chocolate Box!
Chocolate Box reveals were this week, and my gifts are FANTASTIC. It's a perfect gift spread: 1 mouth-watering and beautifully characterized treat in a beloved tiny book fandom that had absolutely no fic for it yet, and 1 long, gorgeously written and iddy gift in one of my regular fandoms, both featuring some of my favorite tropes! Over the moon. ♥
Mark of the Wolf (Island of Ghosts, 1300 words, Ariantes & Facilis, post-book)
I asked for Island of Ghosts post-book fic, and Island of Ghosts with werewolves, and that is BEAUTIFULLY what I received! It really nails the feel of the book and also slots the werewolf trope into the historical milieu of Roman Britain in a way that is wonderfully canon-compatible in feel. (I would have said you need to know canon to read this, because it leans heavily into the characters' book dynamic, but a couple of the comments are from people who haven't read the book and enjoyed it anyway, so YMMV!)
Last of the Last Resorts (Falcon & Winter Soldier, 8K, Isaiah & Zemo)
I knew when I asked for it that this would be an incredibly challenging team-up to write, and so I was thrilled just from the tags, and even more so when it turned out to be a long fic that really does justice to the concept. Wonderful, nuanced characterization on both sides that gives both characters a little extra emotional insight into their own situation, fantastic Isaiah POV that never lets go of his extremely justified anger, and a solid action plot with h/c - what more could you ask for?
