Jump Scare reveals

Authors are revealed! I wrote three things.

Ashes and Rubble (Falcon & Winter Soldier, 3600 wds, Sam & Bucky & Zemo)
Zemo is poisoned with a hallucinogen while undercover with Sam and Bucky. This was for the tag prompt "Character Forced to Relive Their Worst Memory." Look, I have a brand.

Underground (Justified, 3200 wds, Rachel & Raylan & Tim)
An ill-advised attempt is made to pursue a suspect into a haunted mine. This is probably the most actually horror-ish of what I wrote, and can also be read without canon knowledge, I feel - all you really need to know is that they're US Marshals in Kentucky.

Katabasis (The Alienist, 8900 wds, gen or pre-OT3)
Set after season one, the characters try to fix a canonical character death using Flatliners-style methods. This is exactly as great an idea as it sounds like.

So when work reveals happened I was immensely charmed by the fact someone else had used the same title I had, and my 'oh, I wonder who?' thought lasted just until I read the tags/summary :D

...Also, TIL I had completely mis-osmosed The Alienest. Must investigate further, now!

Hahaha. I continue to be The Most Obvious.

For some reason The Alienist is extremely easy to mis-osmose, maybe because the title sounds nothing at all like what the show actually is. I had a completely erroneous idea of what it was, too. It really is an excellent show - the one big issue as far as what I know you enjoy is that season one is kind of a sausage-fest (although the one central female character is really great) but I'm very pleased that season two is doing an excellent job of fixing this so far and giving her a circle of female friends, co-workers, and antagonists to deal with.

Hahahaha. It was some pretty frantic typing, for sure. XD Some of it written in a fit of desperation when I realized the Alienist fic was going to be way longer than I had planned!

The Katabasis is just amazing, I love both the concept and execution, reminds me of the movie Flatliners. One thing that really intrigued me was that Mary still didn't speak in the afterlife, while Laszlo was able to use both hands (I wonder if she couldn't or she just chose not to?)

Are you planning any more fics about Laszlo and Mary?

It wasn't so much a conscious decision as something that I did because it felt right for the characters. One of the commenters suggested that perhaps it's because Mary is okay with her disability - that it feels like part of her, to her - while Laszlo is very much not, which works fine for me as an explanation! But really it's mostly because when I was writing it, having her talk didn't feel right for her, but neither did having Laszlo in the afterlife with a nonfunctional hand forever. As you said, it's possible that she can and at this point just doesn't want to because she's more comfortable the other way.

Are you planning any more fics about Laszlo and Mary?

I don't have anything else in mind at the current time, but we'll see whether inspiration comes along! I'm definitely never saying never to the possibility.
