No red on it this year, though, I don't think - the hardest one is that tentacle square, but I've dealt with it before and it's not impossible.

Ooooh, a great point - but I'm actually thinking literally, because I have had this Agent Carter AU where Jack is a demon that Peggy summons kind of bouncing around in my head for ages, and this might finally get me to write it ...

Now I’m desperately curious why Peggy summoned a demon! And also what Daniel thinks of the demon! (And also in what way demon Jack is messed up because it’s Jack, he’s got to be messed up in some way)

The bit of it that I wrote had Peggy summoning demon!Jack to save Daniel, but there was a whole lot of extraneous magical worldbuilding that never really went anywhere. I think it might work better if I just focused on the demon-summoning as the only actual difference from the canon world (and wow is that a strange sentence to type ...).

If the only actual difference from canon is that Jack is a demon who was summoned into existence to protect Daniel, that offers a great variation on his war record being a lie—since I assume his introduction to the mortal plane of the SSR-verse postdates any theater of World War II.

I think I'm just not sure in what context tentacles count as hurt or comfort. Tentacle hugs? Character is afflicted with surprise tentacles? Character is raped by tentacle creature?? This doesn't seem like an obvious h/c trope...

I know, it's definitely one of those less than obvious ones. I think it's a lot like "hostile climate" or some of the others, where the h/c isn't inherent in the prompt but you could write it that way.

The other time I had it, I just wrote it as a straight out action thing with very little actual h/c. (Peggy vs. Tentacle Monster)

Even hostile climate makes more sense to me! At least there it's clear whether the prompt is the hurt or the comfort. 😂

I also just remembered (because I have that square again) that "Wing and a Prayer" was originally written for - or at least started for - a "falling" square on an h/c bingo card. It certainly wandered from the original prompt.
