26 people signed up for
ssrconfidential so far, which is as many as we had our first year and one short of the most ever (27 in 2018). It's never been a big exchange, but I'm honestly really happy and delighted with how it's tended to hold up over the years. I started the first one the year the show was cancelled, fully expecting the numbers to crash the second year, but SIX years in, it's still cranking along just as well as it ever was!
Also, by total coincidence, there's a very Jack-heavy signup slate this year, which I of course am pleased by. We could really use more femslash people, though; there's a surprising lack of both that and Peggy/Steve compared to some years.

*chinhands* So tell me more about your thoughts on Jack/Peggy. Thoughts on possible getting-together scenarios? I think I can see them more easily as a pairing in AUs than in the main canon, but I can go either way ...

I love that they're foils for each other - they're actually both quite good at what they do and can work together great, but Peggy's incredibly good at what she does, truthful, and the world refuses to see; Jack is being lauded for something he did not do, and it's eating him inside. Ugh and they see that in each other!!

Anyway, all of this is very inspiring, I'M JUST SAYING. :D

Oh, that's such a good point! I think I hadn't quite realized how exactly they mirror each other that way. Nnngghhh, this show is so good. <3

Oh and I forgot one more thing!! I love that Jack really appreciates Peggy's skills. Like in A Sin To Err, he is waiting at the back of the automat because he says he told the DC guys she'd be able to overpower them. Of course, he still doesn't quite get it because she literally says "I'm sorry, Jack" and overpowers him in 5 seconds flat (and leaves him lying there LOL) but then later when they find her passed out in the hallway, he insists on putting the cuffs on even when Daniel's like "is that necessary?" and Jack just goes "believe me, it's necessary". He also never tries overpowering her ever again, I think - learned a lesson there. (Also that it's really hard to have leverage on Peggy, lol. His attempts to get her to stop what he thinks is a wild goose chase in s2 mostly consist of him trying to use reason/lecture/begging her to stop and get on a plane back to NYC)

Interestingly, I had the most Steve/Peggy people sign up right after Endgame. I think that side of the fandom was temporarily energized. But then it kinda crashed. Also, like Sheron pointed out at one point, I don't think that Steve/Peggy people are especially drawn to an AC exchange because they don't really consider themselves AC fans as such; they're more general MCU fans. Similarly, the Daniel/Daisy people (from AoS) don't really seem to be interested in the exchange; I think for them, AC is mainly backstory for Daniel and not really something they're that into except to find out more about him.
It is interesting how it changes from year to year. This is definitely my best year ever for Jack signups, although I did get a rush of other pairings at the end! It'll be interesting to see how the assignments shake out. :D
