I tried to make them as standalone as possible; there's not an ongoing plot, although there are some character threads that run through the books. That said, though, I'm not sure how well it worked (both my betas read all the books, so I don't have feedback on that aspect), so if you feel lost at all, I can hook you up with the other books in the series!

I stayed up too late reading this last night, finally turning in when I was about 70% through (the night before the duel). IT IS SO GOOD! I'm just completely enjoying it, and while I can see that there are threads to the earlier works (especially with the gunshot wound and Dolly's state), they're not distracting in the least. Among other things, I *love* what you've done with the changeling concept; that scene at the playground is just lovely.

Aahhhh, this makes me so happy; thank you so much!! ♥ ♥ ♥ I'm really thrilled to hear that! (And it's taken me all day to answer this comment because it's such a lovely comment and it really made my morning, so I just wanted to make sure to answer it when I had the time to answer it properly!)

I've had that particular changeling idea (and a few similar variations on the concept) stashed away in my head for a while, so it was nice to find a home for it and especially great to hear that you liked it!

And I'm also looking forward to when you've collected enough 'length' of the detective shorts to put out as a book, so that I can buy the book for a friend :) who reads mystery books - but not really ebooks.

So did all this burst of activity come from everyone asking for 'more' of the dragon/detective short? :) Nice to see something catching fire and keeping you fires burning.
