First of all, I bid on a fan artist for the Marvel Trumps Hate auction last fall, after first querying to see if they'd do Iron Fist art - and they would, so I did, and I requested chibi-style art of Danny & Ward, and OMG.

IT'S SO CUUUUUUUTE. ♥ ♥ ♥ I gave the artist several options for things I might like (Danny teaching Ward martial arts or meditation, Ward showing Danny how to use guns, the two of them just hanging out) and I can't believe they made me ALL OF THEM. I love it so much!! Their little faces! All the details! I am so lucky; I couldn't be happier with it.

I think you and your Tumblr-commenter are right about the oh moment: one of the effects of Danny's re-entry into the horror show of the Meachum family sitcom is that he's not part of the good-child/bad-child dyad of Ward and Joy, but he's still too close to family to be written off as an outsider; Ward has to pay attention to the way Harold treats him, as a child, as a threat, as an object, and if Danny doesn't deserve it, then maybe none of them do.

Yes! It was something I hadn't really thought about (in that particular aspect, anyway) before that conversation on Tumblr, but yeah, you're right, just by (re)entering their world, Danny upends the dynamic that the Meachums have been solidly locked into for most of their lives.

It really strikes me that one of the first things Ward does is warn Danny about Harold, in spite of Ward's bitter jealousy of Danny and the fact that Harold is still running the same good-child/bad-child con on the two of them that he runs on Ward and Joy, playing the kids against each other to manipulate them. It takes Ward awhile to have his lasting change of heart on Danny (I still stand by my "love language" theory for that sudden 180 turnaround when Danny comes for them in the penthouse, that Ward doesn't believe words after a lifetime of Harold using words to manipulate him, but Danny's actions in that episode punch him right in the heart). But yeah, I think even as early as Harold and Danny's first interaction, seeing it happening from the outside started giving Ward a kind of insight that he'd never really had, or at least wasn't able to hang onto, when he and his dad had spent so many years in this extremely claustrophobic relationship where the only people they ever really interacted with were each other.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo. (I was looking at them GIFs and listening to Bastille's "Weight Of Living, Pt. II." It is now my Danny/Ward song. Dammit.)

Thing is, I've only watched season 1 and I have to admit that I did not really like Danny. Much. At all. And then Ward became the reason for me for watching the show. I liked other characters and aspects of the show but Danny, I just couldn't get over how much I disliked Danny... But now I'm actually hopeful for season 2? Really, I'll do anything for two people who have such great chemistry. (Ward's fucking face when he looks at Danny, I can't even.)

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to give Danny Rand a second chance. [facepalm] I blame YOU! :D

Also, AO3 only has 44 Danny/Ward works? WHAT? HOW? Anyway, thanks for the rec, and sure, please send more my way! I never refuse a rec! :D

I definitely suggest giving season 2 a try! Danny is a lot more toned down in S2 (almost a whole different character), and his relationship with Ward is really adorable. They have such good chemistry together, and some really neat scenes, and the end of the season is a shipper's dream come true. :D

Hmm, I just checked my bookmarks and the only thing I have bookmarked with the Ward/Danny tag is this music video (season 1 footage only), which is really nicely done and sweet. I'll have to look around and see what else I can find - I know I've read some fic I liked for it!

You know, I did actually watch that vid back then, and I even commented on that AO3 post. XD Yes, Ward is the reason for me so yes, that vid is very much relevant to my interests, I think I even downloaded it because WARD. Thanks for mentioning it, though. It's been a while since I last watched it. :D

I am so dense. I was just reading Mike Colter's Instagram, with a pic of himself and a very pregnant Krysten Ritter at her baby shower. And of course there was much "well, this is as close as we'll get to Jessica & Luke's baby, with the shows being cancelled."
Then one of the commenters pointed out that Jessica and Luke's daughter Dani is named after Danny Rand.

So much duh. Of course she is.

Awwww, yes, she is. :) There's even an AU in the comics where Danny also has a child named after Luke and their kids are friends - here's a scan from it because it's too cute for words. :D

But yeah ... it doesn't look like we're going to make it all the way to Luke/Jessica in the show, DAMMIT.
