The new prompt at [community profile] starwarsflashmeme is Escape:

Escaping from a backwards desert planet? From a lifetime's conditioning in the First Order? From a cell, or a repressive social role, or a crashing spaceship?

Fic, art, etc. fills are all welcome. A new prompt will go up each Friday evening. Here are last week's fills (and someone let me know they were working on another one; I'll add it when it's up).

On a different topic, I watched the second episode of Second Chance, the new show with Tim DeKay. (I would've watched the first one, but Fox didn't have it up.) TIM, THE THINGS I DO FOR YOU. Actually, it's not as bad as I was expecting -- it's actually not bad at all, but it's kind of formulaic. I don't think I'd keep watching if not for TDK, but since he is in it and the show isn't half bad, I will probably catch another couple of episodes and see how it develops. I have watched worse things for actors I liked.

A couple of not-really-spoilery thoughts:

• It is a little disconcerting that Tim is playing a character who's basically Peter 2.0. He's slightly more by-the-book (I think Peter would be a little more willing to bend the rules), but otherwise, HE'S TOTALLY PETER in a different show and it's weird.

• This show suffers from an unusually bad case of "just tell people about your superpowers already". Maybe it would be less baffling if I'd watched the first episode, which might have given an actual reason for it, but right now it just feels like the protagonist is making his life and his family's lives infinitely more complicated by not telling anyone. And it makes the conflict between him and TDK's character frustratingly contrived, because there's no compelling reason not to tell him, and Peter v2.0 is actively investigating him; I can see a half-season's worth of near misses and evidence-hiding shenanigans stretching out ennnddddlessly.

• I do really like that the main love interest is an Indian woman! That's really unusual. On the other hand, the casting for characters who are supposed to be related to each other is ... terrible. The girl who is supposed to be the daughter of TDK's character looks nothing like either of her parents, and the kid who is playing young TDK not only looks nothing like him, but has blue eyes instead of brown ones. WHYYYYY.

... that said, I will probably check out the next couple of episodes and see how it goes.

I hope you'll keep us apprised of second chances, because I'm trying to decide whether to watch. Of course I want more DeKay, but the trailers never made it look not interesting to me at all.

(Why does the universe keep doing this to me? Why do the White Collar actors keep getting cast in things that I'm not into? Like, if you were trying to come up with a premise that was quintessentially the opposite of my interests, you couldn't do much better than "male strippers.")
