Werewolf Peter AU timeline

I am dealing with my incipient departure and total lack of packing like a GROWNUP ... by faffing around on the Internet and thinking about werewolves.

Remember the White Collar werewolf Peter AU? I have about 14K of an unfinished story in that 'verse, and one of the reasons why it's unfinished is because it ended up covering about 4-6 months of story time ... which made me realize that there is probably no point in actual canon where it could fit.

Or, I should say, the problem is that I started writing this AU with no real idea where it diverged from show canon, and up to this point I've been able to get away with it because the events in the various stories could happen at just about any point after season one, but for this one I actually need to have some idea of how differently things play out in werewolf world.

And it matters WHEN all of this started happening because certain events in the series (such as the estrangement between Peter and Neal over the U-boat treasure and Keller kidnapping Elizabeth, or Neal running off to Cape Verde) probably went down rather differently if they took place pre-werewolf-reveal or afterwards.

So, those of you who have an interest in this 'verse, what are your thoughts? I suppose my biggest question mark is whether I should set the first installment in the series during season two, or after season three, because it really doesn't seem to be DURING season three. Advantage to season two: this gives me a whole lot more anklet time to play with, and the possibility of writing a werewolfverse take on Elizabeth's kidnapping. Advantage to setting it afterwards, though, is that the timeline overall would stick closer to the canon timeline, so there would be less divergence to deal with.

Once I figure out that fundamental point, I can proceed to plot out how things would've gone differently, but first I need to get that nailed down.

TALK TO ME ABOUT WEREWOLVES. :D

...I feel like if I had executive control over this, I would set it in S2 just so I could enjoy watching it change everything. And watching Neal twist more over things like El's kidnapping. But then, I enjoy dealing with divergences. ^^

Hah! That's one of the most fun things about my BTR AU where Peter is Neal's guardian angel -- eventually they get to a point where they realize that they could pretty handily destroy each other with this information, and then just kinda have to... deal with that. Which is just delicious.

Destruction is always more immediately gratifying when it's more direct and explicit.

I mean. What? I don't have a thing for threatening Neal with explicit destruction. <.<

Ness should meet werewolf!Peter. Neal would have such fun discovering that his werewolf boss has an invisible dragon friend. And I would laugh and laugh.

Yes. It is always fair. Because Neal is Neal. :P

I am endlessly here for Neal being terrified of his wolfy handler friend.

Oh, yes, about that, I looked up the original deal we made, and I totally promised the Peter Burke: Accidental Ruler of the World fic in exchange for the werewolf Peter sickfic. Which means that not only do I still owe you fic, but that both of the funtimes (or at least fixit) fics we've started for each other have taken a hard right turn into terrific angst.

We're good at this.

Well, originally the Accidental Ruler of the World fic was going to be about Peter mobilizing the forces of hell to rebuild the global infrastructure while he and Mozzie kinda accidentally fumbled toward fixing each other. And then Peter was all, "Well, seeing as my first attempt to get myself killed in order to fix things didn't pan out, I guess I'll just find a way to get myself killed even more spectacularly to fix everything for all time." Because alt!Peter does not believe in joy, or something.

I mean, it could have been heavier on the comfort than the hurt. It really could have. And then Peter woke up and went oh, no it couldn't.

The wilderness thing will totally happen! Some day. One day. ...it would also help if my computer weren't entirely brokeded at the moment. ~_~

TECHNOLOGY. It's so useful! And then we become reliant on it and it breaks, dangit.

I have a computer I'm borrowing from the roommate, but it's slow and kinda clunky and the keyboard feels different, which is all just combining to me not wanting to write on it anyway. :/ But one day, I'll either acclimate to this thing or get my computer back. One... day...

Oh good, it's not always just happening to me.
