JanNoWriMo

I'm feeling so very accomplished! All my gift-exchange fics are complete and tucked away or uploaded in their proper places. My bookshelves are tidy, my packages are sent, and my to-do list is looking quite short and manageable.

Which means I'm looking at my original fiction again.

I have a new plan. I'm going to complete the rough draft of the novel that I started in November for January. Let's call it JanNoWriMo. It'll be blogged over at [livejournal.com profile] icefallstudio as before -- and should be much easier to complete, since I've already got about 15,000 words down!

That'll begin on Jan. 1. Hey, anyone else who didn't make their NaNo novel want to join me? All you have to do is finish the one you have started! ^_^

(And I really, really need to go around commenting on people's NaNo novels ... I was so caught up in my own writing frenzy that I didn't do it at the end of Nov.)

LOL! forcryingoutloud and I were talking about how NaNo was unfair, because not all of us have time in November to do this. I mean seriously, NOVEMBER? So we decided to have it another month. I suggested August, call it NaNAUG, because nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnAUG!! is usually how I feel about my novel attempts...

Really, having it in November is just cruel! Lots of people are getting into their end-of-semester crunch; lots of other people are busy with the holiday rush. I like the idea of doing it in January because it's in the middle of the winter doldrums and there's not much else going on. But I also like your August idea as well!

Hey, if you don't know this already, (and, you probably do) a JanNoWriMo does exist. :D Along with about every other month. ^_^

Good luck with your JanNo-ing! (Ugh, JanNo-ing. I'm going to pretend I didn't say that. :D )

PS: And I think there's a lj community devoted to the JanNoWriMo thing, lol.

Ha! I had no idea! But I probably should have guessed. Thanks for the tip!

Count me in! December's not going so well for me... trying to stay out of the hospital for asthma, dang it. At least I have nearly 13,000 words!

Whee! This time we'll do it!

(And yikes on the asthma -- I hope you're doing okay.)

I want to join you. Unfortunately, I'm running a Teyla-oriented love-a-thon during January and participating in the [livejournal.com profile] choc_fic love during February, which means a lot of my writing efforts will be going towards those.

But I would really, really like to.

It does seem like there's always something else going on (which was what killed my novel in November). January is actually the only month in early '08 when I think I might be able to do it.

But maybe you'll be able to try it sometime next year!

Well, I'll think over my story ideas between Christmas and New Year and see which of them might be recoverable. :-/

I've been having so much trouble with my original fics - i tend to get abotu 15,000 words in and then can't write any more.

But I might friend your writing journal anyway to keep track of how you're doing.

Hmmmm... I didn't participate in NaNo, but I wouldn't mind participating in this. I could use the motivation as mine is sadly lacking.

Join me! It could be either fanfic or original.
