On a different note, I know there are a few of you who enjoy Karin Lowachee's Warchild books (as I do!). The author is doing this awesome thing where she solicits people's suggestions for short scenes in the Warchild universe on Tumblr and Twitter, then has people vote on them, and writes the one that gets the most votes. Basically it's like Yuletide except THE AUTHOR WRITES THEM FOR YOU. :D She has a submission post up tonight. (if you're not on Tumblr, you can tweet a vignette idea to her @karinlow. If you're not on Twitter OR Tumblr but have a scene from the books you want to see, I could post your suggestion on your behalf if you'd like me to.)

And if you haven't read the books, the last vignette she wrote is actually a pretty good, nonspoilery introduction to the universe. It deals with one of the major characters at a turning point in his past, and is a good introduction to the general tone and theme of the books, which are mostly about characters growing up and dealing with severe emotional damage during a Big Space War.

(These books are triggery as hell for themes of rape and child abuse, FYI. I mean, in a way that is really well written and is basically ABOUT dealing with that kind of thing, but if you have triggers along those lines, these books are VERY TRIGGERY.)
