Meta Month of May!

Last year it was Meta Month of March, this year it's Meta Month of May - but in any case, [livejournal.com profile] trobadora and I are doing it again! This is a month-long fest to encourage more fannish meta and discussion on Livejournal and Dreamwidth. Anyone can participate; all you have to do is write a post about any fandom-related topic, post it on LJ and/or DW in May, and link to it from [community profile] month_of_meta / [livejournal.com profile] month_of_meta.

As last year, there is a signup sheet (on LJ / on DW -- this is nonbinding, but it gives you a target to aim for, and everyone else some idea of what to expect) and a brainstorming & meta prompts post (on LJ / on DW). The rules are the same as last year. Posting will begin on May 1 and run through the end of May.

Feel free to promote this in any of your fandoms, and ask [livejournal.com profile] trobadora or me if you have any questions!

Unfortunately I am having Internet problems at home right now -- I actually posted the signup sheet RIGHT before my home Internet went out for a half-hour or so, and it's been up and down ever since. If the problem persists, I may be slow to update the signup sheet and/or answer any questions until it's working properly again.

Ooooooh ... this might be a good time to finally write up the giant meta post I keep meaning to write about Why Kate Was Totally Awesome ... :)

Now I just have to think of something to write!

(I mean, I do have those "Why every excuse used to bash Sara Ellis is objectively and demonstrably wrong" and "Why the White Collar fandom is more sexist then you think" posts, but even if do write those someday, I think they'll probably be behind lock, both because I'll feel guilty for getting angry, and because I don't want to deal with the influx of "But Sara is a bitch.")

Ideas. I need ideas.

It would be interesting to talk about how White Collar portrays masculinity and femininity. I touched on it in last years Women of White Collar post, and I've left bits and pieces in comments, but it could be cool to really iron it out.

That is, if I ever have any time.

It might be interesting to write about how White Collar portrays male&female friendships - not all shows do this very well (or at all) and WC has several examples (Neal&Diana, Peter&Sara, El&Mozzie, Neal&June). It's something I've thought about writing meta on - but I already know what I'm writing about for this fest (see comment above :D).

Oh, that's another good idea.
