fkficfest/fkficfest (Forever Knight fic exchange) is still seeking signups (until Friday, May 25). Right now they have six people signed up, but it'll be a much more fun exchange if they can get more! I participated last year and had a really good time -- I greatly enjoyed the story I received, and was proud of the story I wrote -- but I'm not feeling fannishly engaged enough to participate this year.

In other fandoms, apparently showrunner Dan Harmon was fired from Community, which makes me worried about season four. I still love the cast and it's not like I won't be watching, but Community was one of those shows that had such a unique flavor that I can't even really imagine writing fic for it -- the voice is too hard to capture -- and I get the general impression that most of that unique voice was Dan Harmon's influence behind the scenes.

(Oh, and on the topic of Community: all you Homestuck fans on my flist? Even if you don't normally watch it, you should check out the episode 3x20, "Digital Estate Planning". It's a fairly well-contained standalone episode -- some of the jokes are probably funnier if you know the characters better, but you shouldn't be too lost -- and I think you might like it since the general premise is, um. Similar. :D)

Speaking of Homestuck: is it too obvious that undyingUmbrage is a sort of incompetently-evil mirrorverse Karkat? I don't know if the bit about red herrings was implying that "uu" isn't Karkat (this comic actually WOULD nest the misdirection that many layers deep) but I just caught up on the last week or so of updates, and now I'm trying to figure out if "uu" is really this universe's Karkat or if the parallels are all a cruel, reader-trolling lie. *g*

Well, reader-trolling is def taking place. Now we can never say Hussie hasn't given us porn!

But also, uu & UU have Karkat blood colors: lime for where he would have been if he wasn't a mutant, cherry red for where he is.

... wait, really? How do we know this? (I'm not disbelieving you, I just don't remember.)

I do find it hilarious how uu's version of "evil" is ... pretty much exactly how Karkat would go evil, i.e. he's all talk, no action, and not nearly as evil as he seems to think he is. (Whether or not he is really a version of Karkat, he certainly acts/sounds like one.)

Ah, thank you! And also, *facepalm*. I hadn't actually caught on that their blood orders go in zodiac order.

Thank you for promoting FKFicFest! I'm afraid the lower interest in this year's game is my fault, for opening sign-ups later than planned... I may be even more afraid that the fandom is waning in ways I can't fight, but I'm not anxious to go there. I'd rather duck. It's not too late! We shall yet see! :-)
