AVENGERS!
I have finally seen this superhero movie some of you may have heard of, so I can read everybody's posts now! \o/
A few random disjointed reactions, since we went to the late showing, so it's now 1 a.m. and random disjointedness is all that my brain has to offer.
EVERYONE IN THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME. I do not think I have a single complaint!
Best moment in the movie, hands down: Loki and Hulk. "Kneel before your god--" *WAPPITY WAPPITY WAPPITY* The entire theater burst out laughing. I couldn't *breathe*. I think the best thing about it (besides the absolutely perfect comedic staging) was that it actually did take him out of commission for the rest of the movie, and in such an offhand, casual way. For a villain like Loki, who is all about the dramatic gestures and ~melodrama~, the fact that he basically got punched out by the Hulk in 2 seconds with no one around to appreciate it could not have been more perfect.
I had no idea anyone would die! I guess I should have expected it, this being a Whedon movie and all, but my jaw was basically on the floor. He did get the most awesome death scene, though. And I am still not 100% convinced that his death wasn't part of Nick Fury's fake-out. (Even though in a way I kind of hope not, as much as I hate to lose him, because it would cheapen his death scene and his death scene was AWESOME.)
TONY. PEPPER. PEPPER/TONY. ♥ I have SUCH love for this pairing (I can't help it; as long as they can keep up with each other, snarky boss/Girl Friday pairings are catnip for me) and I adore Pepper and love that even though she was only in about 2 minutes of the movie, she was smart and funny and totally a match for Tony in every way. And oh, TONY. At least half my favorite scenes and lines in the movie belonged to him.
But I did mention I loved everybody, right? They all got to be awesome in their own way. And I felt that the movie balanced the whole cast of characters very well, as well as doing an outstanding job with the blend of personal interaction to action. I never felt that it was dragging, but I never hit action overload either.
