White Collar squee stuff

No new White Collar this week, so I'll just have to make up for it with an interim fix of actors being adorable. :D

... because I just read this interview with Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay (contains mild spoilers for an unaired episode) and there's this bit at the end where they start inventing storylines for each other's character, basically fanficcing their characters round-robin-style and it is the cutest thing ever.

TVLINE - If there was one storyline that you could suggest for the other character, what would it be?
BOMER - I would love if there were some really hot, powerful FBI woman who came into the office and was, like, trying to pull some power plays and maybe get a little flirty-flirty with Peter — and he’s having to really deal with that.
DEKAY - [To Matt] Does he like her?
BOMER - Oh, he totally is attracted to her, but he’s going to stick to his values. But [there's] definitely going to be some serious conflict going on. And it might even get to the point – What was the Demi Moore movie where she sexually harasses Michael Douglas…/ Anyway, that could be fun for him, to really put some tension in that relationship and have Elizabeth come in and be like, “Hold up, get away from my man!”
TVLINE - And for Neal?
DEKAY - My fantasy is that there is an episode – we touched on it [when] he had played “Peter Burke” – where Neal really has to be Peter and sell it in a domestic way. We see him in the house with Elizabeth and that really has to be sold.
BOMER - Oh my God. Awesome. And Neal would totally be having a ball with it, of course! He’d be like, “Listen, this is just what we have to do. We’ve got to commit to these characters, and we’re going to sell it.”
DEKAY - Maybe something happens? I’m not saying that Elizabeth cheats, but there’s a moment where they both…. It just takes them by surprise.
BOMER - Hands will wander!
DEKAY - And, of course, my [other] fantasy is where Peter gets stuck in an elevator.
BOMER - Yes! We have to have the episode where it’s just literally the two-hander the entire episode, where they’re kidnapped or stuck or something, and it’s like they’re working some s–t out because there’s tension going on.
DEKAY - And all they have with them is an old game board, like a game of Clue.

THEY ARE FANFICCING THEIR CHARACTERS. OH ... THEM. ALL THE HEARTS. <3333333


Also, I cracked up at this bit from this interview with the two of them (this one also contains spoilers! I tried to squint my eyes and skim past it, but they do talk quite a bit about the main arc this season, and a little about the finale) in which the interviewer asks Tim how he feels about Matt playing a stripper in that male-stripper movie that's coming out this year:

Tim: I can't wait! I can not wait! First in line to buy a ticket!
Matt: Oh god … [laughs]

Then a little further along:

Interviewer: Kinda sounds like Tim is angling for a role in the sequel!
Tim: I am!
Matt: I'll get him into it!
Tim: I was gonna do this one, but the lighting wasn't right.
Matt: I'll get it into White Collar next season: Peter and Neal go undercover as male strippers.

XDDDDD

I think one of the things I really notice in interviews is how utterly different Tim is from Peter - he's such an extrovert, and a goofball charmer, and basically all the things that Peter isn't. It's so interesting! And so odd! (I have the same sense of weird disconnect when I hear Marsha Thomason's real accent. It's so cute! And yet - so completely not Diana!)

Another excerpt from an interview with just Tim this time, in which he talks about Peter and Neal (the interview is here - contains some spoilers for unaired episodes which again I tried to skim as much as possible):

(Tim) "The interesting thing is that Peter loves the guy, he loves Neal and Neal loves Peter.
But he’ll never, ever, implicitly trust him."

I also ran across a very flattering review heaping praise on White Collar. Sometimes it's nice to just bask in the warm glow of someone else appreciating the awesome of one's show while one is on the height of the fannish squee wave. They do talk White Collar up at the expense of some of USA's other shows, so please be warned for that if you are a fan of Psych, Burn Notice, etc. (I mean, they're not cruel, but they do make unfavorable comparisons in a couple of places.) No spoilers for unaired eps ... at least not that I noticed.

This post made me SO HAPPY! I am sitting here in my quiet office with my office partner trying hard not to laugh out loud, but it is a TRIAL. Thank you so much for transcribing the relevant parts of interviews - I don't usually want to sit through all the regular interview talk, but I do want to hear the amazing slashy adorable shit that these two say to/about each other all the time! The male stripper movie! Oh my god Tim DeKay I can't even, you are amazing.
