I don't even know what to say about this, except "Only in Alaska"

http://newsminer.com/view/full_story/17302801/article-Alaska-man-seeks-to-reclaim-his-22-cats

Short version: homesteader packs up his 22 beloved cats and heads to town for supply run and booty call (yes, really). Lives in a friend's shipping container while attempting to find a woman for said booty call (I cannot imagine why he's having trouble with this part), meanwhile storing all 22 cats in his Toyota hatchback. City confiscates cats. Cat custody battle ensues.

Sometimes there is just not enough *facepalm* in the world.

Just finished reading the article....I have no words. Though I think the city should save themselves time and money and give the cats back. There are plenty of other stray cats that need homes and aren't being fed mackerel and seventy pounds of cat food....

Yeah, the city seems to think cats need a four bedroom house and solitude or something to be happy. I'm sure they do just fine out and about in the wilderness. Cats don't need luxury surroundings to be happy, just playmates, food, shelter, and some love and attention.

Basically if the cats aren't missing ears, tails, or toes and don't look starved or beaten/mistreated then they are doing better than most strays and abused animals.

I find this whole situation funny and it feels like a "only in Alaska" story.
