Back from Christmas ... hi! I think one thing that surprised me a bit is that I didn't actually miss the Internet, email, LJ, etc. much at all for the week and a half that I didn't have it. I think that when I put together my next year's plans (as I always do on New Year's Eve) I might put in something about making an effort to spend a little less time online -- not that I'm going to disappear entirely or even necessarily cut down on my Internet socializing, but I do spend an awful lot of time in random surfing that is starting to eat into my day in a major way. I can do better than that!
But anyway, I had fun, even if I am now completely visited and traveled out for the next oh, month or so. I saw family (mended fences with one family member, developed a rift with another - typical holidays, I guess), crammed an amazing amount of New Orleans sightseeing into one evening and one morning (ate beignets from a bag on a streetcorner in the sunshine, totally geeked out touring the Cabildo), and spent a ridiculous amount of time traveling. (All told, counting travel time on both ends of the trip, I ended up spending three days in a car and two very long days on planes WITHOUT LEAVING THE COUNTRY. That's a ridiculous amount of country ...)
Anyway ... hello Internets! Did I miss anything? *g* I know I missed Yuletide, which I had actually forgotten about completely until logging into my flist for the first time since the 21st and seeing some Yuletide recs here and there. Anything else going on these days?

Also I totally read part of your second paragraph as you saying you'd been time travelling. Which sounded surprising, but would have been cool :P

And time traveling would have been awesome. BUMMER. Along those lines, have you seen this?

If you're interested, I posted the next part of my perspective series. I posted in on Christmas Eve, heh.

Oh, and LJ screwed up. Like, big time. I'm sure you'll get caught up on that quickly.
eta: oh, I see you already got a taste of LJpocalypse.

Normally I take my laptop with me, but this time I figured I'd be busy enough that I didn't want to hassle with it, and I was glad I left it home. I did get a vague urge to check my email or LJ every so often, but all in all I didn't find myself craving it, which was good to know.
And yeah, I caught the edge of the LJpocalypse right before I left, but I'm kind of glad I missed most of the fallout.
