Fannish stuff
For those of you who are still reading a) SGA and b) McKay/Sheppard, I pinch-hit for
mcshep_match this year. Stories are being posted anonymously, 2 per day (they're just getting started and still have a ways to go), and somewhere in there is a McKay/Sheppard fic by me. Should you manage to guess which one (... I have no clue how obvious it is) I'll write a little thinglet for you. :)
Does anyone have suggestions for knitting/creative/craft communities on either LJ or DW? I already discovered
knitting. (Actually, I think I've found most of the ones on DW by searching interests.) Really, I'm just looking for a little more inspiration to get me back into making things.
I always go through a "Yay, fall! Yay, Christmas!" period at about this time of year, and it seems to be happening right on schedule. *g* This time of year is when I start planning ahead for gifts and winter projects, thinking about things I want to make, things I want to bake, winter holiday fic exchanges and the like. If I'm still this enthused about White Collar in a couple of months, I would love to run a WC gift fic exchange (but I really had better finish my
collarcorner story before I go thinking about other things along those lines).
I'm not sure if I'm going to do Yuletide this year. I've done it 3 years now, had tremendous amounts of fun every time, and I feel sad at the idea of being left out! But every year that I've done it, there's been at least one small fandom (usually more than one) that I was wildly enthusiastic about -- something I really wanted fic for, something I really would love to write fic for. This year, unless something comes up in the next couple of months, there just isn't anything Yuletide-eligible that I'm in that "squee and bounce!" headspace for. It might be a good idea for me to take a year off and just read/rec this time.
I feel like getting into a discussion today, but I can't think of anything to get into a discussion about. We could talk about writing? White Collar? Oh, I know: crafts! :) Are you working on anything right now -- knitting, quilting, dollmaking, anything like that? If so, what?

I just did a major cleaning/organizing of my studio/creative area, because I have a bunch of craft supplies that I haven't been using. Getting them out and organized, and seeing what I've got, was a big help with getting me working on craft stuff again.
Good luck! :D I hope you're able to get back into it!

Actually, reading your LJ always makes me feel like getting off my ass and getting something done. You've always got so many interesting things going on!

I'm trying to draw more though I haven't had any ideas yet that have really encouraged me to break out the pencils again. I would like to do something other than dragons but I'm rather limited in what I can draw (which drives me crazy).

I like the idea of a WC gift exchange, though. :D I'm having a lot of fun with my
Ooh, art. :D That's another thing I need to get back into.

I need to talk with you about
As for writing ... I have like 19 SGA WIPs and no time. Pfeh. One is part of an AU series that I'd like to finish ever; the other is a whole new AU. I know what I want to happen! I just can't get it onto the screen! ::sob::

I would be fine with you using the mod account, actually -- I created it so that more people than just me could post & edit stories, and I can give you the password if you like. On the other hand, juggling shared accounts is kind of tricky, and I don't really see any reason why you couldn't either create a posting account of your own, or post under your own username instead -- using your own username is certainly lot easier than logging in and out of different accounts all the time. My concern with the mod account was mainly for the stories that had been posted, and wanting to make sure that I wasn't the only person who could edit them; if they're posted at AO3, that wouldn't be a problem.
Anyway - do you have my email? If not, I can give it to you. I'd be happy to offer any advice on running the fest that would be helpful.

I also crochet, but don't have a project at the moment. I'll have to start one soon, so I can have something to do in public. Lace knitting plus other people does not equal a good time.
If you are not on Ravelry yet, check it out. You'll find more ideas there than you know what to do with. Plus their pattern finder is excellent. You can match the type and yardage of the yarn you have to the sort of thing you'd like to make and see what comes up.

You have lots of projects! :D I've been wanting to get into lace knitting; my cousin was showing me the shawl she's working on, from a book of Estonian lace patterns, and it's quite lovely. Most of the things I've knit/crocheted in the past were warm and bulky and suited to cold climates, but this year I'm looking into options for knitting gifts for family members who live in warm climates.

Oh, that would be a shame! For me, I find that even if I'm not particularly enthusiastic about any small fandom when I start, the fest itself alway sparks something.
