Part Two of my Neal-is-a-dragon White Collar AU is up on AO3 and on Dreamwidth. This chapter is about 5800 wds; the whole thing is ~10K words so far. I figure the whole thing is probably going to be 5 or 6 parts.

I'm really loving this story. This would make a wonderful original novella too, I think, if you just changed some details. But I also love the little peeks of WC canon. :)

Thank you! :) Awesome icon, by the way! And yeah, one of the reasons why I don't tend to write a lot of total AUs is because I get ideas and then end up making them into original stories instead. I'm thinking I might take some elements of this one and roll it into an original novella/novel -- not really following the storyline, but I really like some of the AU elements I'm playing with here.

And I did see that you had posted something original, and I'm definitely interested in reading it! Granted, I do tend to make a lot of those mental notes and then completely forget to go back later (the advantage to fanfic is that my current obsessions are at the forefront of my brain, which makes them more difficult to forget). But now it's open in a tab for future reading pleasure. :)

I do think that this story would make a terrific novel or novella. I love the way the binding spell works, and the culture of your dragons. I'm also enjoying the characters of course, but I know they're adapted from WC canon. :)

You made me break my first rule regarding reading fanfic: Never read WIPs! But how could I resist a Dragon!Neal story by you? Impossible!

I love Neal as a small, lithe, black (♥) with a white spot dragon! I love how Peter reacts to him, that he was determinded to kill him but when he saw Neal, and therefore evidence that doesn't match up, changed his mind. I love the sympathy Peter feels regarding Neal when Neal hits his head. I love that El just goes with Peter to the dragon and has reservations about the chain and the control chain. I love the picture of Neal lying in the garden of the Burkes' with his head on the wall - I could see this in my mind while reading!

Oh boy, the idea of Neal as a dragon makes me so giddy and happy and bouncy. ♥

So, I saw you advertising a dragon!Neal AU and my mind sort of screeched to a halt with a comical cartoon-ish soundtrack. Then stayed blank while it tried to wrap itself around the concept of dragon!Neal AU... and then thought "it's sholio! she knows what she's doing! Go read!" And so I did. And I think I haven't stopped grinning since, so thanks! And rah rah rah for your muse to keep you inspired!

Admittedly, when I first read dragon!Neal AU I kinda thought you were bananas and in no way you'd be able to pull this off in a way that didn't completely butcher everything I love about the White Collar characters but you somehow made this scenario seem plausible.
The story is funny and Neal, Peter and Elizabeth are still themselves. Especially the last part with the necklace was Neal and Peter in a nutshell.
I heard Mozzie is going to be in this? I am sooo looking forward to his appearance as whatever he is going to be.
